I'll check to see if that's a known
issue and if not I'll definitely file a bug on it. The plan for dazips
was to have something that would "just work".
I have to admit, I
haven't tested this system myself with a retail install yet. Here at
work I've got dazips associated with an archive manager instead, since
I need to open them up and rip them apart to see what's in them more
often than I need to actually install them.
Edit: I just
found a bug report in our tracker that claims that a bug with this
symptom was fixed in patch 1.02. Do you have that patch installed?
I should have 1.02a installed, although it doesn't seem there's any confirmation of that instead of a plain old 1.02.
According to the config utility:
DAOrigins.exe: v1.02
DAOriginsLauncher: v1.01
DAOriginsConfig.exe: v1.03
Uninstall Dragon Age.exe: v.103
I'm using the N. American DVD version on WinXP Pro SP3, if that makes any further difference.
Edit: Assuming nobody'd mind, I wonder how bad it would be to supply a copy of DAUpdater.xml relative to your DAZIP package so it works that way - at least in the meantime. All the XML file is is a DAUpdater string table for English, Spanish, Italian, French, German, Czech, Hungarian, Polish, and Russian. Create a ZIP file to contain your DAZIP in a subfolder - call it something meaningful - and have a "data" dir at the top level containing DAUpdater.xml. All that matters is $CWD/../data/DAUpdater.xml.
For reference, here's a screen shot of the error dialog when you double-click a DAZIP - the updater program doesn't run except to give you that dialog and then exit.
