So far, I'm actually liking it - while Geralt seems to be a "Renegade" by default in some situations (particularly in the opening sequence where he's using a criminal as bait for a monster), I still seem to have enough leeway to shape his responses that it hasn't gotten to the point of, "That's it, I'm tired of playing this jerk," especially since he's lost his memory and so has something of a clean slate. The first bit with the attack on the Witchers managed to draw me in right away, and the process of unraveling what was happening in the Vizima outskirts was interesting. I've just gotten to the point where Geralt gets ambushed and thrown in jail upon entering the city. And I have had to make at least a couple of tough choices so far where the game doesn't necessarily tip you off as to the consequences.
However, I have two gripes and I'm wondering if I should expect these things to continue throughout the game:
1) Are there any young female characters who *aren't* going to end up offering to sleep with Geralt if I'm nice to them or as some sort of transaction for a favor? In just a few hours' gameplay in the Vizima outskirts, Geralt was either implicitly or explicitly propositioned by Abigail, a waitress from the inn (Vesna, I think), and some random woman collecting tulips, and I have no idea if there might have been even more of this if I'd actually spoken to every single NPC. Personally, I find this goofy at best and horrendously sexist at worst - unless it's meant to be self-parody, but I don't get that sense from any other aspect of the game.
2) In order to get people in the outskirts to talk to Geralt, I had to go through an awful lot of "go kill X number of monsters"-type quests that were rather tedious at times, especially since the game's combat system leaves me feeling more like a choreographer than an actual participant. I think the worst was when Abigail offered to brew a potion, but told me I needed to go pick five plants and bring them back - sure, they weren't far, but does anyone at all actually enjoy doing things like that in a game? I mean, what's the point?
I suppose I'll still try to finish it even if I am going to have to put up with these things, but I'm just wondering what I'm in for....
