I will be playing my Sentinel from ME1 on my first playthrough of 2.  Normally I focus more on powers than guns, and will be playing on Normal difficulty.  Should I take Power or Assault armor?

Thanks!

Assault Armor, always Assault Armor.

Power Armor does provide more shields (+100% of base shields) than Power Armor (+75% if I recall), BUT:
(a) Assault Armor gives you some shields (+50%) when it detonates, essentially giving you more shields than Power Armor would, therefore allowing you to survive longer.
(B) Assault Armor detonation gains a much larger radius, staggering more enemies.

Also of note: Take the Guardian evolution for your class passive. The +30% cooldown is more important than the +15% power damage provided by Raider. Guardian plus the Tech Cooldown upgrade (+20%) will give you a 50% tech cooldown which means a 6 second cooldown on Tech Armor. Very important.

Assault Sentinel is one of the most powerful characters you can build in ME2, especially when paired with Stasis.

That's what I'll do, then.

Assault Sentinel is THE most overpowered thing in ME2. Its why tech armor was so drastically revamped in ME3.

Pretty much my thoughts as well.

^Yup, like everyone says, AA. probably the best single power in the game.

It's up there.  Probably could get the nod due to the squad power reset.  It's funny to think about what AA's rep would have been had the developers not forgotten to take out the squad power reset for Tech Armor as they intended to do before release.

As far as "most overpowered" goes, speaking purely about powers, expoited Stasis is probably more overpowered.  While you get nice benefits from AA, you don't get to magically lock almost any unit then get a billion percent bonus damage on them when it breaks.

And if we allow all exploitish behavior, a late game Vanguard with Stasis and reload canceled Claymore easily rivals the Sentinel in power.  Sentinel is probably easier to play, especially against the highest tiered units... but Vanguard will get through everything else twice as fast (for a variety of reasons, but unit kill speed is also faster).

lol, I can't stand the clunky controls anymore, but the story makes me feel so much better... I experience more joy drudging through Firewalker than Priority Earth (actually, no, both are similarly dreadful in their own way).

Haha yeah I know what you mean. I do generally like controls of ME3, but it doesn't take me too long to get back into the groove with ME2. I'll still find myself turning a corner, running headlong into a Bloodpack Pryo (etc.), and then going, backflip...BACKFLIP DAMN YOU!

Also, I did Firewalker one time, then skipped it entirely ever since. I don't even touch it. I can be a little anal about trying to complete everthing, but that's a big exception for me.

I'm a little ashamed to admit this here, but I've never actually played ME1. I have made an effort to watch gameplay vids of the big moments. But then, games like these have tons of little moments that add a lot of depth and humor.

It is nice to get a Biotic Damage upgrade prior to Horizon if you are a biotic class.

This is pretty much the only reason to do Firewalker.

Then again, that useless prothean orb is a better trinket than that ridiculous Husk head from Leviathan. <-- Then again, the Husk head helps justify the IT, which makes Priority Earth go down easier. It's all a vicious, vicous cycle.
