It contains only 1 line of text regarding Site Rules, the other two lines consist of helpful information and links for members to two resources for getting assistance.

The original version had a full introductory paragraph advising people of the Site Rules changes.

I know what the original looked like. I simply just don't see the point of keeping constantly showing up on top of every single page on the site.

You only need to keep it in the topic page, or at least make it smaller. You'll be amazed how much space it will free up and make the forum less cluttered.

I don't know, for certain, but the Site Rules link at the bottom of every page goes largely unnoticed because it is not so prominent on the page you happen to be viewing.

Besides, being much more visible at the top, which is usually banner space anyway, leaves no excuse for lack of knowledge about the site rules and other information and where that information can be found.

As far as page space, any given topic can have up tp 25 posts per page with or without the posted information and no matter the length of a post, so I really don't see your point.

My point is it is redundant having it show up on top of the page all the time.

That banner space was never used in the first place until they changed the site rules and code of conduct.

We will simply have to agree to disagree and move on since this is off topic from the OP.

But there is nothing personal in this message though?

If there were personal questions then yeah, don't post it but that message was just answering a question that relates to this thread.

It was just a simple question if they are ad's. Stanley Woo replied 'yes'. Explain to me how this is personal or otherwise could prove to be offensive to Mr Woo?

I really do understand why posting private messages are off limits, but this isn't really a private or personal message. Just a simple question.

It has absolutely nothing to do with the contents and everything to do with the source. If he wanted ninja stan to answer his question pubicly, he could've sent him a pm asking him to please reply to <Linked topic> as soon as he's able.

Re-posting the contents of a private message from a Mod or a Dev is a really good way to encourage that Mod or Dev to no longer respond to your private messages. As mentioned already, it's called a private message. When asking questions that may be of interest to the general forum populace, a user is free to ask or encourage the Mod or Dev to post his response publicly in the thread discussing it. Or ask if you can re-post it to a discussion thread.

This particular instance was harmless and contained no incriminating, personal, or confidential information, but it's not a habit that community members should get into.

I don't care.
Please imagine me saying the below in an indifferent tone of voice, as opposed to angry or sarcastic.

I find adverts a little bit annoying on websites.

However, I can choose to completly ignore them.
I also realise that websites have to make their money somehow.

For all I care, you can flood the social network with these adverts Facebook style.
I'll do what I've always done. Ignore them.

I'm surprised to see the ads. It looks cheap and unprofessional on a corporate website. Then again, it's not the first time I've been surprised at Bioware's public image.
