Do these examples support the developers claims that blond textures are "washed out"?

I'd call Aribeth a red-head. Though she might be a strawberrry blonde.

There definitely need to be more in-universe blondes in both DA and ME. Red hair is just soooooooo overused at this point. Definitely more shades of red (I'd call Alistair a strawberry blonde) than blonde. Besides Kahlee Sanders and Conrad Verner, my Shepard is the only blond I know of in the MEverse.
This is a big part of the reason people poo-pooed on the blonde default Shep appearance when it was voted on. But considering she was a readhead before (and considering how crappy she looks now XD) I'm not too broken up about it.

I saw some images of Aveline.
Some her hair comes across as yellow.
Others orange
Others red.
What's up with the inconsistancy?

Do you know how many causcasins dye their hair blond? Millions. Especialy in America, Britain and Austarlia. And most of them have brown eyes and brown hair/eyebrows. It's just so, passé!ReallyRue wrote...

Well, (getting a little off-topic here) I just find it looks dirty, having blond hair, when the hair has clearly been dyed. It's at it's most unappealing, when the blond and brunette are meshed together. It basically looks fake (or is fake), and I find that off-putting.
It makes me (morally) sick to my stomach, how in real life, soooo many people (especially caucasians) dye their hair blond. And if there's a character in a video game with the same thing (whether supposedly dyed or not), if feels like it's been dyed. I guess I find hair dye to be unclean and unnatural, and if someone looks dyed, they feel unclean/unnatural. Unnatural in both physical, and personality.
I want a blonde character/companion to feel natural, not made up. The best thing about BioWare's games, is that characters often feel realistic, rather than shallow and poorly written. The characters can reflect in the writers' own abilities, and BioWare is not subpar.
This explains your dislike of dark eyebrows, but not dark eyes. What does having brown eyes paired with blonde hair have to do with looking 'unclean' or 'unnatural'?
