The Arishok in DA2 was cool. The new(ly introduced) Arishok is better, though.

I wouldn't say he was a villain, since that would imply wickedness on his part. I would just say he was the antagonist for Act2, and only the very end of that act as well.

Out of all characters in DA2 (Hawke included) the Arishok was the most impressive one. I wish i could have play as the Arishok or that the Arishok won the battle against Kirkwall.

Arishok is not a villain. Also i am not sure is his death in favor of Sten a good idea.

Arishok was a good character in DA2 not like all the others who turned in to monster zombies so Bioware could try to make the game exciting.

I actually felt a little bad killing the Arishok. Despite the fact that I disagreed with... well, pretty much everything he stood for, I found him to be a compelling character. I'd say that's a mark of a good antagonist indeed.

That said, I like the new Arishok more. Much more easily bribed, if you're in the know... :P

Eh, it annoyed me that the game seemed to be very insistently telling me that he was awesome. And didn't really give me good opportunities for my character to express the view that he wasn't.

*prepares a cookie-trap*

(seriously, i might have taken sten along everytime i played DA:O (there's only a few people i might consent leaving to the darkspawn and i would give them a weapon, not leave them defenseless in a cage) but i am not a fan of his, even more after him telling Leliana (which i kind of do like - even if her fate in the maker bothers me) that women don't belong on the battlefield *shakes his head* (i believe women who can handle it have a right - and even an obligation - to be there, if men are forced to be there (draft!) and thus should be forced to be there, too) and even more after he explains part of his culture to me, where others decide your job, love is a none issue, children are taken from their parents after birth etc. sorry, the Quunari are not my favourite people in Thedas)

greetings LAX
ps: as for the DA2 Arishok: he was IMHO nothing special...he invaded a peacefull city with a surprise attack for a stupid book! (it was not even a book about magic, technology or healing or something, now it was a book on the Quun as far as i know, so nothing of worth to me)

While the Arishok is hardly my favourite character, I gotta take issue with this a little. The Arishok did not just suddenly invade Kirkwall. The Qunari asked the Viscount if they could stay there for a while, which the Viscount agreed to. Then, as the Qunari sat there in their quarter, minding their own business (while looking for the book), they were faced with a bunch of Chantry zealotry, with people like Petrice ctively trying to incite a fight with the Qunari, which led to situations such as Qunari being taken forcibly, humiliated in public, and then killed. So yeah, after dealing with **** like this for a few years, I can't really blame the Arishok getting kinda pissed off and deciding to beat the crap out of all the people in Kirkwall. He didn't decide to take over Kirkwall because he wanted the book (although it would probably be alot easier to find a book if one controlled the city), so much as it was him getting revenge for all of the indignities he and his people had suffered while staying there.

well - the people are right to make them "suffer".

they just don't want those communist-borg-monsters in their city and i agree with them, even more as they themselves are not the most friendly people and they actively convert people - sorry, not something i would want near me, waiting to slit my throat in the night and invading just for not believing in their stupid and WRONG system of believes!)

The qun is near perfect, except for their treatment of mages. The qun is order incarnate, where everyone has place & role in the world, not just sitting around festering, wondering about what to do next. If you ask me, which you didn't, it would be good for the poor and downtrodden that just sat in kirkwall day in and day out looking for a hand out to be dragged off into the night and coverted into purpose.
