Ok with console gaming becoming increasingly worse every dayand rumours of used game blocks on the next gen consoles floating around I thoughtnow would be a good time to get into PC gaming, problem is I know absolutely nothing about computers so I thought I’d run the following build past you guys to see if it’s at least decent before buying.

CPU: Intel Core i5 Quad Core Processor i5- 3470 (3.2GHz) 6MB
Cache

Motherboard: Asus P8H61-MX USB3/SI uATX, USB 3.0, SATA
3.0Gb/s

RAM: 8GB Samsung Dual-ddr3 1333MHz (2x4GB)

Graphics Card: 2GB NVidia GeForce GTX 660Ti

Memory: 500GB 3.5 SATA-III 6GB/s HDD 7200RPM 16MB Cache

DVD Drive: 24x Dual Layer DVD Writer

Power Supply: 450 Quiet 80 PLUS Dual Rail PSU + 120mm Case
Fan

Processor Cooling: Intel Socket LGA1155 Standard CPU Cooler

Sound Card: Onboard 8 channel (7.1) HD Audio

Network Facilities: 10/100/1000 Gigabit LAN Port

USB: 4xUSB 2.0 Ports

OS: I can’t decide between Win 7 or 8. I’ve heard that 8 is better but I really don’t like the layout.

Also I’m buying it of PC specialist using this base, so any changes made would have to fit in with what they have and my budget of £710 max.

Thanks in advance for any advice.

Well I built my PC about a few months ago, I couldn't really say much about this. I can say however that you should not get Windows 8, at least not now. Microsoft products that are new tend to be very buggy and messy. Another thing I can recommend is getting a different case, if possible from the brands Lian Li or Antec, which I think are probably the best two brands for cases according to a lot of people.

The only thing I would change is the HDD (memory) to 1TB, which OS you decide upon go with 64bit as it will recognize 4GB and up, I would of suggest going for one of the creative sound card but that would push it over budget.

I recommend

- Decrease GPU to the GTX 660 (non-TI) to stay within budget
- Increase CPU cooler to Corsair H40 Hydro.
- Increase PSU 600W Quiet 80 PLUS Quad Rail PSU.
- Stick with Win 7 64bit for now
