Dear support staff:

I´ve been a loyal Bioware customer for years, and i own pretty much every game your company has made.
And what do i get in return?? I´m not even allowed to post tech related questions on the tech forum! Thank you
so much... -.-

Anyway, to my question:

I bought DA:O when it was released. I have the Pc version. Then i bought DA:O Awakening, also for my Pc.

Now, today, i got the Ultimate edition from a local retailers, and i find i can´t download the DLC. I can´t even
redeem the code that has been printed on the slip.

I have my original game + add-on still on my computer ( since i love to play DA, and havn´t had the reason
to un-install it. ) , so do i have to un-install the old game, and  then re-install the Ultimate edition instead, to access the dlc?

Something i do *not *want to do, as i´ve started yet another new game, and i also have lots of  custom mods and
add-ons which probably would have to be re-applied .

Thank you.

And i would appreciate not beign transfered over to the Tech related forum over this since i can´t even post there.

cant you just re install over the copy you have installed m8 thus leaving all your mods/characters alone an installing the dlc at same time?

HI,

Hmm, i´m not sure. If i run the new disc, i only get the " Play " option, instead of " Install. ". And if i press " Play ", the game won´t load since appearently i don´t have the right disc inserted. ^_^

Sorry about the earlier. I just had some steam to vent. :) I love DA:O and have waited ages to play the dlc. And now i can´t even access is.

On the side, i´m not sure if i need the Origin account. If i try to register a Origin account, i can´t use my old email since it´s tied to the Bioware Social Network. I would like to have all my Ea / Bioware stuff under my requal email.

Well, I'm pretty sure that your problem is having the software already installed (DAO & Awakening) and now you have a new disk with the original software + new stuff. I don't consider this a issue specific to Dragon Age, this would have happened with any software that you purchased/installed in a similar manner.

Do you have a way to backup your current desktop/installation? You can copy your character files to another area (if you don't have any other way of backing up). For that matter, you can copy both sets of folder structures (mod and DAO) to another location. Warning: I'm not going to promise that this will let you get everything back if installing DA:UE doesn't work out well.

Uninstall DAO & Awakening then install DA:UE. Your mods won't be deleted, but I'm not sure that the new installation will recognize them. I don't even think that your characters are deleted, but that doesn't mean that they won't be corrupted by all of the uninstalling/installing going on. You shouldn't have to download the official DLC, the DLC is on the DA/UE disks. You will need to get Patch 1.05 AND install it immediately so that 'the powers that be' recognize that you have a right to use the DLC that you paid for SIGH.

I hope this helps. I know that I had to get into 'chat' because the tech support search is...... (to be politically correct) not as useful as it might otherwise be. You could also use the chat tech support to see if they have a better answer than I do :-(

Good luck

You could contact ea tech support to recover your old account. If you create a new BioWare account this would mean your previously unlocked achievements are lost (they're in your previous account).

The keys aren't used for anything except registering the game on your BioWare account. It doesn't matter how you install the game as long as you're logged into an account that the game is registered to. If you want the DLC to work, then you must register.
Characters are saved locally in \\Documents\\BioWare\\Dragon Age\\Characters\\ on all versions, which means that you don't need to move or transfer anything if the saves already are on the computer where you intend to play DA:O - Ultimate Edition on.
Two unique copies of the same game on a BioWare account is of no issue. Characters shouldn't need to be transferred unless you are going to play on another computer from where the characters are at.
For example, DA:O - Digital Deluxe Edition and a DA:O - Ultimate Edition both bound to the same account, with DLCs merging flawlessly (however only a single copy of each DLC is given).

Note: if you have Steam download, I know account registration is different.
