My theory would be that the Asari are a fanservice species that makes no sense at all.

Id say thats a pretty good theory.

Have you played ME1 ? There have never been male asari. They are monogendered.

Are you sure about that? What about the temple on Thessia? What other secrets can the Asari be hiding?

You know, i had hoped for a semi-intelligent discussion based on biomedical advances and such... But since the following is tangentially relevant:

There have never been male asari

That's you inventing facts since the codex says no such thing; for all you know, there might have been male proto-asari once who disappeared when they became superfluous to reproduction (much like it's possible today to create viable gametes from only female cells).

Information to settle this one way or another might exist in-universe but we are never shown anything that would allow us to definitely reach a conclusion.

Whoever thought up the Asari probably didn't have a degree in biology, this is why franchises such as Mass Effect and Star Wars are more akin to Fantasy than science fiction(let alone science fact).
Also, people used to believe that there was no such thing as female dwarves. The dwarves let people believe this to keep people from stealing their women, however they soon realized that non-dwarves weren't really into bearded women. Therefore, I find it plausible that the Asari are hiding their men. Maybe the Hanar are male Asari.

I say there is a solitary, extremely satisfied but incredibly exhausted male asari in a temple on Thessia somewhere

You're completely right! I mean, just like how Bioware might just be denying it, but they might be making a new ending DLC!

The game has STATED that the Asari are monogendered, this should end this theory. Hell, male Asari don't even make any sense. It's just Asari. Not female Asari. Female and male do not exist in the Asari's world. Comparing them to humans is laughable (Yet they look like human females, since that is clear fan service) and here you wanted a debate on species evolving. If male Asari did exist in some age or day, I'm sure Javik would have tuned in, since his race directed the Asari. Fail debate is fail. An Asari is both M and F.

Lol.

From an non-asari perspective they are very much female. From an asari perspective, they are asari. They're not both male and female, they are one gender and that gender is female. The words have no real meaning to them, because they are not necessary in describing an asari. Maybe the concept of gender was introduced after alien contact, or even before if Thessian fauna had gendered species.

Whether asari had males is no longer relevant in-universe.

What if they come back for revenge?

Seriously...The codex is right there in the game.

So you assume that the codex is infallible? That's like saying "They said it on Fox News, so it must be true".

Just another example of a neckbeard making me chortle with a 'theory', as if they're a ****ing scientist and qualified in any way in using that word for their opinions.

Curse you, this might've died if you waited to say that until someone said something silly again.

The codex is for things that are not relevant in-game.

Great job in making a false assumption and personal attack. I don't have a beard, let alone a neckbeard for several reasons:
1.) I am genetically a very hairless person, and unable to grow anything more than peachfuzz on above my upper lip and chin.
2.) The Army requires that I shave daily.

Revenge? Necromancy ain't cheap in the ME universe. It's 4 billion creds per body. That is if a body exists, and that is in a state fit to be Lazarus'd. If they at some point existed and is not discussed in the recent, they do not exist. Also, wouldn't Javik have smartass'd about it were they to exist until and including the present time?

If a population of male asari exist and they decide to insurrect, the asari elite -- influencial people with more power than they let on. Someone kept the secret for 50k years -- would send commandos to clean them up and sweep them under the rug. That is the asari way to deal with individuals bringing shame to their species.

Are you seriously comparing Fox News to the Codex? The codex is a collection of lore facts written by the writers, not necesarily in-character knowledge for Shepard, even.

Asari are females that use pathnogenesis for reproduction. And Cultural they are Monogendered. Male gods worshipped by Asari were Protheans.

this is bsn. I will not put it past BSN Forumites for that reasons alone to add them in the game.

Weird BSN FORUMITE: PLEASE put Asari males with boobs in the new dlc.
