Another part of the game that was underdeveloped, perhaps?. But you do reach a point in the story where it would have made sense for Gamlen and Charade to have filled the holes left by other characters and indeed moved in with Hawke. It would have provided Hawke with a reason to stay in Kirkwall for that final act.

I wish I had gotten to know Charade a bit better that final act. She seemed pretty cool. Hopefully DA:I will have family member companions, ones who don't drop dead 5 minutes into the game...

I would've liked the choice to let them move in too. It was especially sad when Gamlen was just hanging around the estate in Act 2 around All That Remains... I just wanted to tell him to move his grumpy butt in already. Most of my Hawkes would have wanted the company, especially at that time.

I also just don't understand why hawke is just a massive douch to him, I see where he came from he was there for his parents yet leandra still was allways on their minds over him. I hope we see him again.

Gamlen doesn't come to live with you because he's rubbish.
I'd sure as hell not want to live with him. That bloody tosser would probably listen at the door when you're having sex … or charge admission to do so.
Dog is enough of a pervert for one household, thanks.

I like gamlen... from a distance. Besides, I prefer to have hawke all alone and isolated with only their LI and friends to keep them sane towards the end. I love this game because you lose everyone you worked so hard to protect. The endings like one last chance to do something great before leaving Kirkwall forever.
God I hope they give Hawke an ending. DLC did nothing to resolve Hawkes story it just made the campaign more interesting.

He stole all Hawke's mother's money and allowed her to think her parents died hating her.

You'd think Hawke would at least buy his uncle a nicer shack.

If I was Hawke, I'd let Gamlen handle all my investments.

Maybe Gamlen doesn't want to move in with Hawke. I mean (s)he can't seem to pop to the shops for groceries without being assaulted by a dozen murderous thugs. And family members drop like flies around them too. If I was Gamlen, I'd rather take my chances in Darktown, thanks.

Man...could you imagine the dialogue between Gamlen and Sandal? One constantly bellyaching, blaming everyone else for his failures. The other..."Enchantment!"

Maybe because the game generally doesn't like that ignorant weasel.
The guy spent a year screaming at Hawke & Family for mooching off of him when he squandered his sister's inheritance and lost their house.
He peeks in Hawke's mail for money to steal. Then tries to hit him up for money.
The only time he acts human is when Leandra dies and Charade appears.

Hmm, I always figured he (Gamlen) was too proud to accept a bailout from Hawke.

I can see this very much being the case, but not even having the option or at least giving him some gold for food/slightly better home/other You would think some hawke would feel worried that gamlen might be hurt/killed and want him to be protected or to live with you. I would like to hope you as a pc in da:I might go to gamlen to find out the wereabouts of hawke (Probly won't find out anything) and see that his life has improved or he has become a aggressive alchoholic depending if he had met his daughter or not.windsupernova wrote...

Because I could totaly see him hating his life with no family around any more and a crappy house in the worst town ever.
