Yrkoon brought this up earlier, but there needs to be more for archers to do.

you have five other trees to pick from, then three specailizations.
Do you mean more attack options though? I built archers that were battlefield movers and quick shots using the specalist and scoundrel trees. One thing I really liked in dragon age II is the actual symetry between the skill trees and how well they worked together, allowing you to make any sort of build viable.
I am all for adding more skill trees, but I would have to disagree and say they archers had a LOT they can do. It was up to the player to do it, though.

Partly because I like to switch my weaponry according to situation, rather than play a pure archer or pure melee.

I'm good with all the other options in the other trees, I just mean this tree needs more to it.

If I could more quickly switch between types of weapons, I'd be more welcome to switching weapons. Otherwise I'd rather just go pure.

To truly appreciate archery, I would like one shot assassination skills.
I wonder how they'd integrate that, if they were going to.

just started skyrim an playing a archer in there, im liking the skill where you like hold your breath an a sort of time dilation happens i guess much akin to HR for soldier in mass effect or there infiltrator mods.

That makes more sense for player-skill centric games but yeah, it is pretty neat.

You could have archers be able to tie grenades like these to their arrows/bolts and then fire them at the enemy. You might not have infinite uses of their abilities like a mage's spells but you'd have the benefit of increased range.
I also like the idea of being able to use arrows to trigger traps. Being able to use trap detection to see where pressure plates and bear traps were and setting them off from a distance could come in handy.

Make it like Skyrim
May I ask how you would like it to be like Skyrim?
Don't get me wrong, for the limited time that I played Skyrim I did prefer being an archer, I'm just not sure how you mean exactly? It would be hard to implement Skyrim's single player mechanics into a party based game like DA, I think.

I'd love all classes to get ranged options, and that they'll include thrown weapons like axes. A ranged medival tank is an oxymoron: if your archers were being trounced by knights it usually means you lost.
Cosidering archery got special attention (equal to mage combat) in DA2, adnvastly improved over DA:O (visually), I think saying it sucked is kind of a low blow, OP. That being sayed, how does one get into archery ? I thought about picking it up as a hobby.

Archery in Dragon's Dogma is a blast! The same with Tomb Raider. Unfortunately, I don't think DA will be able to implement it in such a way due to the party-based gameplay system they have going on.LPPrince wrote...
So I've been taking a look at the archery in Dragon's Dogma(through video since I haven't played it) and it seems like it could work, but it would definitely require a POV change and combat to be a little slower than what DA2 had.

I wouldn't mind a "bow specialist" type "class" - neither a warrior nor a rogue - but someone who is just great at ranged combat.
And finally, personally speaking, it breaks my sense of verisimilitude to have archers using AOE type effects. Flaming arrows, exploding arrows, magically enchanted arrows - all great and fit within the lore. But just giving them abilities to make them "kool" just makes me shake my head and grit my teeth.

I am running an archer character right now in Skyrim. But as much as I like Skyrim, I do not want DA to follow that particular route. I just want (1) bow strings and (2) every class to be able to use a bow.

Like when they fire 6 arrows up into the ceilling, and 500 arrows rains down from the ceilling, magically missing all allies?

Only if I can pause to do it. Or initiate combat from extreme range.LPPrince wrote...
Manual aiming would be interesting.
And I don't see how it would work with multiple archers. I can't aim them all in real time.
For the record, I preferred DAO archery to DA2 archery (based simply on the speed of combat), but I disliked how both games offered nonsensical abilities like Scattershot or Rain of Arrows.
