Unique? Sure. Practical? No.
That's the thing that Bethesda got right with Skyrim. The bows not only look unique, but they also look practical.
Did the Predator give him that bow for his birthday? lol.
Indeed!
Thankyou very much for this post. I've seen some concept art that is not promising at all
In fact I was contemplating a long post about various types of bows and how they actually worked, and how they were drawn and shot. But I'm lazy and nobody ever listens to me anyway.

Speaking of curiosity and completely off-topic... Long, Recurve or Compound?I'm curious since I'm an archer myself.

Now that you mention it, I should really get a Recurve at some point.

On certain difficulties you could get away with just using Rain of Arrows and nothing else.
Everything but Nightmare, really. Just use rain of arrows and area spells and cruise through it.

I get that its fantasy, and Rain of Arrows isn't exclusive to DA, but I've never understood exactly how thats supposed to work.
I belive you fire 5 arrows straight upwards from your bow or crossbow (shouldnt be possible firing more than 1 at a time via a crossbow though), the arrows multiply on the way up. Turns right under the ceilling, and fires themselves straight downwards. The arrows themselves do the aiming. The archer just have to fire straight up. If they, on the way down, are near someone the arrows consider to be firends, they steer clear of them.
Its obvious, really.

Must be friendship arrows because the only explanation is magic.

Except that in some cases one arrow goes up and 300 shards come down.

I know. But dwarves can`t use magic, so I am not sure if this is the case.
Maybe someone misunderstood the term "friendly-fire"? And thought it meant that the arrows should be friendly? Abit like Cupid`s arrows.

And I can kinda see something similar being used by a Dwarven Archer.

That looks like the kind of bow that would end up sending an arrow through your own face.
