Really want to know what the thought is at Bioware right now behind whether arrows and other potentially expendable ammunition will just be infinite like before or craftable/lootable/able to be purchased.

Hmmm... think we can turn this thread into a discussion against universal ammunition?

Makes no sense to use longbow arrows with a shortbow, etc, etc...

I don't know if they'll go that far with it.

Well, the subject came up in another thread, but yeah-

I'd like some form of an Arcane Archer specialization.

Shooting Crossbows and shooting lightning are two of my favorite things.

Why not both, shoot iron conductor bolts that attract lightning.

Thing is, what class would get that specialization?

I imagine it would have to be mage.

Well, lightning conducted arrowheads could be a thing. I'm sure they'd find a way to explain it or handwave it and throw it in because its cool.

Yeah, like magical lightning rod arrows, which maybe only work in a stormy weather effect, but when that's the case, blam! (Nature, you scary.)

Best with crossbows, though, because then you can call them "lightning bolts."

Cool.

I remember in Dungeon Siege 2 Broken World you could put a bit of your blood in the arrows, to sort of mark the enemies, and then use a AOE spell to deal a lot of damage focusing on the blood.

Yes it was. Is there a problem with that?

Nah, just pointing it out.

As far as DA goes though, I don't think blood magic and archery are ever going to cross.

I have the Broken World expansion manual here (hey! remember when games had manuals? and expansions...). The archer+mage class was actually called Blood Assassin.

How about a blood mage crafts the arrows with his blood, the archer shoots them, and the blood mage uses that to focus spells?

Cullen wouldn't have been a very good detective... yes, I like blood magic (although I prefer the term hematomancy).

bowstrings
poisons
Runes for added effects/elements
different types for different fire rate/damage :Long, short, cross, compact, and the super huge type that is used to take out walls that you have to have help to load/ fire(maybe need 2 archers in party to use with long load time, but huge damage : to take down dragons/ castles)

There was some sort of ballista in Origins, both in Ostagar and is the last fight against the archdemon. We might get something like that more integrated into the gameplay, afterall the Inquisitor is supposed to command a sort of army and it seems there are going to be sieges.

Not saying I particularly like the idea, but it could happen.

If they're going to reaaally work on large scale battles, I'm all for it.
