Thinking about the amount of blood spatter and such in the games, hoping archery doesn't lead to exploding bodies and such this time unless explained somehow.

Now I'm picturing a loosed arrow causing someone's head to pop like a water balloon and splurt blood everywhere.

Now I'm picturing a loosed arrow hitting the neck, probably puncturing a main artery and causing a small fountain of blood to shoot out.

Hey, at least it's a believable explanation for why archery would cause as much blood splatter as melee combat. *shrugs*

At least archers won't get blood spattered on themselves.

Unless it's close range or melee archery. :3

Arrow fired into person's arm
*body explodes from stomach as if grenade was consumed*

Everybody hated it, as far as I can tell. The devs said it was a bug, I want to believe it but... seing the rest of the fighting...

I'd need evidence to believe that was a bug.

Going back to the iron arrows and lightning, that could be an interesting cross class combo.
A rapid fire talent, followed by arcing mage lightning, perhaps inducing temporary paralysis?

Maybe. Game could use some more cross class combos.
I'm now picturing Rain of Arrows augmented by a mage to bring down flame, ice, etc etc

Especially AoE combos. I'd like to see some that aren't 'finishers', more for crowd control.
Using your example, Rain of Arrows with flame or ice causing the enemies to lose aggro or become slowed.
AoE combos would work well between mages and archers, imo.

Agreed.
I imagine a mage could use a spell that covers the ground or an enemy in oil and then when an enemy is stuck in it or falls, an archer can light it with a flaming arrow.
Just another example.

Its why I like the idea of an arcane archer specialization. Gives a lot of room for opportunity.

New combat video came out today.
Nothing on archery that I noticed.
I imagine going by the speed of combat in the video, archery will be slowed down from what it was in DA2.

As long as archery is stronger / more user friendly than it was in DA:O, and has less of the "pew! pew!" sci fi bullet animation and sound effects of DA2 (and less of that annoying hand flex after each arrow is loosed), then I'll be happy.

Yeah, I'm with you there.

I think you know what we need.
