Personally I think alot of people who didnt enjoy the friend rivalry system is not because of the system itself but because of the way you interacted with your companions. In DA:O you were able to affect how much your companions liked you alot more if they wernt in your party most of the time because of how often you could talk to then in party camp. I believe the lack of being able to talk to your party members during your in betweens in missions restricted you in DA2 because the main way to get friendship/rivalry was to have those people in your party during quests and if you made a desicion that they didnt like you had no way to get back friendship until half a year later (in game time). This made alot of people who wanted to friends with certain people play a certain way because they had no way to fix it. I think a simple tweak to how often you can interact with companions would solve this inconvience.
The other thing im going to talk about is romancing companions. I prefer the DA:O method for romances because it wasnt a straight forward simple affair. In DA2 romance was in my opinion made far to simple by the one romance option that works 100% of the time. A simple tweak to this would be for the romance option to act in the same way as the investigation option. As in you go to romance someone and it expands to give you 3 choices to your romance not all of which would be the correct things to say. I think this would give alot more connection to the companions aswell and would make you feel like youve achieved something rather than just being the mack daddy of getting laid.
So I'd like to know what you guys think are their tweaks you would like to be made?
