You only find out about that if you play a male hawke. The only way you'd know as a female is through meta-game knowledge.

So, i' ll refrase the question:

Why is it important for you to know as a female?

It's not really about having sex with them. As a queer male, well done (as in, not only for the male gaze) relationships between women make me happy, because it shows more support towards their LGBT players. I can only assume that queer females, or maybe simply people that feel this kind of subject should be explored more in games, would feel the same even if they are not personally romancing the particular character.

Because you can't formulate absolutes about a persons history based on nothing.

It's not in game tho. If the player never plays a male hawke, they'd never have knowledge of the relationship making it non-existent.

O rly? Please give me one instance in origins where wade & herren give off the smallest hint that they're a couple.

Why would they need to go through lengths to prove they are a couple to the player?

At any rate, Word of God is that they are a couple.

Yeah, the point was that it's impossible to be certain without gaiders acknowledgement.

As a straight man the thought disgusts me! Jokes aside, really dont mind either way, aslong as there are female LI's lol.

I think Orlais is most likely to be the one place youd see something like this. Everything ive heard about it from characters makes it seem very 'open' to everything

I agree with your "Joke", the thought of it Is digusting, however, I find tomatoes disgusting I wont treat anybody different or say they cant have something because they eat Tomatoes. Do it, Ask for it if it makes you happy.

No? I'm not sure where you got that from.

More same sex relationships, M/M or not, player-related or not = devs show support for LGBT players = good love heart.

I think Dhiro is asking that same-sex relationships be more visible, since in the setting, they are not stigmatized.

So....you need to know his history as a bisexual because why? Im not seeing how his sexuality is important to his character as a companion, it doesnt define him.

Huh? No clue how we instantly went from determining the visibility of Anders s/s relationship without meta-game knowledge to his sexuality defining his character, but I'll just leave it here.

Let me explain,

It seems to be Important to you to know Ander' s romantic history without meta-gaming, and Im asking why is it important. ? simple enough question, i think.

How many heterosexual relationships are really shown in game? More than same sex, definitely, but still very few.

It's not important to me at all. I'm just saying that you can't say for a fact that he was in a relationship with karl based on meta-game knowledge you can only aquire as a male. You can't build facts on non-existent information.

I think this would be great, and let's give BW credit for Leliana and M-lady (not going to try to spell her name lol), Branka and Hespeth, and (to an extent) Wade and Herren, though to be fair they were awfully cliche as far as "standard gay couple" go and it wasn't exactly confirmed in-game that they were together. But still, it was a step forward.

Anders and Karl was another pleasant surprise, but aside from that I think DA2 missed the boat on s/s NPC relationships....

Oh gosh, really??

The de Launcet's
Decimus and Grace
Gamlen and Charade's mother
Arianni and Feynriel's father
Ghyslain and Ninette (and Ninette and Jethan)
Yevhen and Dera
Two flirting Dalish elves in Merrill's clan
Huon and his wife
Donnic and Aveline (and Aveline and Wesley)
Lady Harimann and her husband

That's just from DA2, and I got this from quickly going over the character list...

Opposite-gender sexuality is ubiquitous in Dragon Age. That's not to say there's anything wrong with that - straight people are rather common and sexuality is part of life - but I'm not sure how you could argue that heterosexual relationships are few.

Off the top of my head:
The human noble's parents
The human noble's brother and step-sister
Ser Jory and his wife
Cailan and Anora
Flemeth entire backstory
Cullen's crush on the female mage
Lilly and the whiny blood mage
Arl Emamon and Isodle
Arl Howe and Lady Sophie
Wynne and anonymous mage dude
Oghren and Branka. Oghran and Felsi.
Bhelen and Rica.
Cammen and Gheyna.

From DAO to DA2 out of the handful of companion character we get in each game there
has been what seems to be a policy of MANDATORY inclusion of a minimum of at
least 2+ characters available same sex relationships. This is a policy that
will very likely continue. In DA2 all default romance options were same sex
viable. Despite being somewhat unrealistic this was justified as a means to
simply include more options. As others have already pointed out random NPC
characters in same sex relationships has already been explored in both games so
I don't think there needs to be more of it.
Having options is one thing but Bioware beating everyone over the head
with "hey look here's another same sex couple!" throughout the game
would be very forced and frankly a bad idea in my opinion. I think they are
already doing more than enough in that regard

There are Hetero example' s and Homosexual example's, and they are not in equal standing in quantity, pretty acurate.

Maria & Motomo, you guys gave examples, but how about the one's that we can actually see, meaning both people actually together?
