Please don't fall into the trap that is so obviously being baited for you... Just ignore the comments about catering to minorities and gay content "polluting" the game. It's not worth the effort.

its not meaningless to the ppl asking for it and its not meaningless to bioware who provide it, whats meaningless is you for suggesting its meaningless.

But as ive stated bioware is providing it and since they started to each new game they bring out adds to it so tbh give them time there doing a hell of a job compaired to the majority of developers in adressing alot of things, but time and lessons learned will provide better interactions in game for everyone

This answers your post.

No it doesn't. A couple isn't defined by how often they refer to each other as "dear" or "honey" in the company of strangers.

The latter half of your post is just making the thread idea much more than it needs to be.

I disagree.

You may find it meaningless, but the mentioned minority doesn't. And they have the right to ask for it, just as you have a right to ask for features which are important to you. The fact that they're a minority doesn't make their opinion any less valid than yours.

This whole thread is about homosexual NPCs being represented through couples.

How can we tell if Bioware's actually doing this unless we know that the NPCs are gay?

And how do we know that they're gay unless they say or do something such as indicating that they're in a S/S relationship?

I don't know. How do you know when you pass a gay person in the street? Are they dressed differently? Do they behave in some functionally distinct way that Bioware could identify and include in a game? Or not? And if not, why should Bioware make any such distinction just to appease people who say the gay NPCs aren't gay enough?

Maybe they hold each other's hands as they walk.

Maybe one gives the other a quick kiss.

Maybe you overhear them talking in the background as you walk by.

The same way you tell if people are heterosexual.

You should really change the title.
I don't mind s/s romances at all, however i think you are overreacting with this. I understand that for some people romances are huge deal but this would just be a waste of time for Bioware to do.
They always considered romances to be a small part of the game, not huge. Especially for those people who don't even bother with romancing characters.

Save it, I saw your anti s/s +1 post, pre-edit. The title of this thread is fine, if you find what we're discussing so unbearable then you're welcome to leave.

All reasonable indicators that two people could be a couple; all related to contact between the two. So Bioware now need to ensure that every couple in the game is a fan of public displays of affection, because otherwise there's not enough proof that they are couples?

I regret wading into this.

Sometimes it's more fun to make your disgust known before you leave. :)

If were talking about NPCs with names like Citizen, Elf, or Merchent, then I don't think they need to be specifically characterized to show any particular trait, be it sexual preference or something else.

For NPCs who are actual named characters with actual stories to the, then it would be fine, even advisable, for their sexuality to be visible to the player, assuming it's part of the story.

It's all pretty simple and doesn't require extra thought or resources; basically, Cammen could have been a girl and Ninette could have been a guy.

Though again I want to repeat that the DA series has been really decent regarding inclusive NPC sexuality representation... however, this is really only in regards to other games and game series (which generally have no LGBT NPCs at all). So there is always room for improvement ... heck I know at least a dozen LGBT couples in my personal and professional life so if they're here they must be in Thedas, too :P

Sucks for them.

And again, you continue to make more out of it than it is. All that's being requested is a subtle hint that they're a couple, that's it. No one is asking bioware to define every coupled npc with p.d.a. /sigh

Ok anyone with anti-gay views can take it out of this thread, and into a private group somewhere. There are Lgbt people that frequent this forum and quite frankly, you're being ridiculously offensive.

Honestly, I never really paid any attention to NPC relationships in the game. But I wouldn't mind if there was a gay or lesbian NPC couple.

Gay romances is perfectly ok. Everyone being bisexual just for player catering is not.

I honestly think ALL romances need more presence in the background. Not overtly so, but, you know, just bits and pieces. But more concerned than with same sex stuff I'm with interactial romance...I'd just like to see dwarves with elves, elves with humans, humans with dwarves, it's just a much more interesting picture when they stand side by side.
Another thing I'd love would be old people romance. Someones grandparents or something, heck, old people in general seem to be underrepresented in the game. An asskicking 80year old granddad of someone would be nice. Or if we get the return of children, have some little kid crush on someone, you know, just a line of dialog for a background character. It would be little, it wouldn't cost muc, but with the right voice acting it would get a nice "D'awww" reaction from everybody.

But i'm just the kinda guy that likes some joy and happiness and mushy stuff to go with my epic drama and bloody battles.

Quoting you again to add that I'd like to see a human x elf romance that wasn't: lowlife scum human male x jilted elven female.

Maybe same sex pairing, or male elf x human female (shocker!) or even (gasp) happy and healthy male human x elf female relationship.

I would like a storyline where we can get 2 gay characters together similar to Aveline/Donnic, Cammen/Gheyna.
