Because there is nothing going on beyond Shepard's field of view. Liara organizes a network of information and gathers resources for the crucible, that even if it is a contrived big ass plot device from a meta-perspective, it's damn useful. Samantha is a signal specialist, tracking communication and that sort of things is her job.

Liara gets one shipment of platinum and suddenly she's the the galaxies biggest hope....

You sure you're not just letting bias talk?

Put logic and reason back on the line, please.

Because that's the oooonly thing she has done. Scroll up and read others' responses you have so far ignored or forgotten.

It's hard to be Mrs.Secret when you're openly helping the galaxy to fight against the Reapers.

Alright.
She is incompetent as shadow broker throughout 90% of the game.  She gets one shipload of platinum to the Crucible and recruits some scientists, maybe.

This again..?

Bioware chose to make Traynor seem useful as she was a character (not talking about LI stuff) nobody asked for. Unfortunately, they damaged Liara's role in the process.

I already told you bias, I want to talk to logic and reason, hand the phone over.

We've been over this already. Using a little common sense, it should be easy to deduce that delivering some platinum to the Crucible isn't the only thing she does, but you aren't using any. You don't like Liara's character, so you're letting bias talk for you.

Even ignoring what she does to help build the Crucible, you're still ignoring the fact that she's already used the network's resources and her own knowledge of the Protheans to make sure there's even a Crucible to help build. The galaxy would be quite literally doomed without that.

I have nothing against Traynor, I actually like speaking with her because her voice-acting and dialogue are both quite good, and she offers kind of a unique perspective being new to the story, talking about the old-days with Garrus can get tiring, but I haven't the foggiest idea how Traynor helping EDI that one time, and actually doing her job well enough as a communications specialist means she'd be a better Shadow Broker that the asari who spent two years learning how to do that job.

I think people are judging Liara too hard. She is an Asari, you can't expect much from her.

I'd rather not take orders from anyone. It would be much better if Shepard is independent and using the Normandy to help with the war effort. You get contacted while stringing together your alliances with the requests to help and how it will help the war effort. Hackett can oversee the crucible or whatever, and you contact him from time to time informing him of whats up and sending resources his way. That's how I try to play anyway. I never wear any alliance outfits. I'm independent in ME3.

Hmm. I do think the idea of Liara playing a bigger role in briefing/debriefing you on missions would be interesting. Even without removing Hackett from the equation she could simply be a part of the conversation more often, like she is after Mars. I'd agree that I wouldn't want to be taking "orders" persay.

You only meet two information brokers. One's an asari, the other's a yahg.

So information broker should probably be on that list.

bad biotic warrios
bad leaders
bad embassadors
bad diplomats
good strippers
good "escorts"
bad researchers

That pretty much sum that Asari race. Anything that doesn't involve getting your clothes off, they are bad at.
