In Dragon Age: Origins, my mage was Bad arse! She was a blood mage and an arcane warrior plus elemental and ethropy master. SO I was very strong. But in this one...I don't think blood magic is as powerful as it was in the first one or is that just me? Do i just have yet to figure out how to use it? HELP! i need specs, I mean I know I'm probably gonna go Force Mage no matter what because force mage is really fun.
Questions

1.)
What specs should I go with? NOTE: I do NOT like Spirit healing for my main person..
2.) What attributes/ablities should I do?
3.) Is blood magic as over powered as it was in the first one?
4.) Seriously, who should be in my party at ALL times? (I do have Sebastian)
5.) What should my rotation be? As my rouge it was: Backstab, twin fangs, pinpoint strike, ect.

Help would be greatly appreciated. I do have the Black Emporium so I can go buy The Makers Sigh and start over like a ninja:ph34r:

1) You can either go bloodmage/forcemage or skip the second spec and just take the spec bonus. I'll agree that forcemage is a pretty solid option.
2) If you want lots of damage you should go full magic until you reach 100 magic, then start pumping dexterity. If you're a blood mage you should probably also take some constitution. Avoid other attributes if possible. Abilities-wise you can follow Arelex's elemental bloodmage/forcemage or my crit-mage. My build probably has more damage, but it's also considerably more fragile.
3) Pre-patch bloodmagic in DA2 was pretty awesome. I can't remember how it was in DA:O, but the haemorrhage stagger CCC was pretty ridiculous. It was heavily nerfed in the patch, so post-patch bloodmagic is mostly useful as an alternate source to mana.
4) Anders, merrill, and either varric or sebastian. You can probably swap out merrill for a warrior if you want some haemorrhage CCCs. Anders is probably the most useful for his haste and firestorms.
5) Try pull of the abyss, gravitic ring, firestorm + anything else you want (walking bombs etc).

And if you want to feel especially overpowered, you could always try playing on a lower difficulty..

I kept building Fire and Ice skills. Yes, at the beginning a mage is practically puny. But later, middle and at the endgame the mages are apocalyptic :)
