This is a general recommended solution, OP:
Common/Uncommon (Silver cards) maxed: Bronze/Silver difficulty
Rares (Gold cards) maxed: Gold difficulty
Platinum is for vets and/or maxed URs
All of this is subject to a person's overall experience/skill within the game. I can play Platinum with a common weapon, but that doesn't mean I should.
Here's my guide to new players:
1.Play bronze/silver until you've got a nest-egg of medi-gels/consumables + max commons with Recruit packs (this will not take long, otherwise you'll be unlocking commons in your PSPs = wasted credits. MAX YOUR COMMON WEAPONS AND CHARS FIRST, Recruit packs are cheap, and guarantee consumables/base human unlocks)
2.Stick to silver for awhile and build a stockpile of consumables with Jumbo Equipment Packs, with the occasional Spectre Pack to quench your desire for better weapons)
3.Max your Uncommons (silver cards), through Vet Packs (1 each gauranteed) or SPs (maxing uncommons will also not take very long if you dedicate to it buying the correct packs)
4. NOW, you can work on Rare cards (Gold cards) and URs (Black cards) with Spectre and Premium Spectre Packs. This, combined with a healthy stockpile of consumables will you be ready for Gold+.
The biggest mistake a new MP player can make it jumping head-first into Gold and thinking they can succeed. You will end up frustrated and blaming the game for your own lack of patience. This isn't Halo or CoD. Its a co-op game with a random number generator for a store.
Check your ADHD at the door and prepare to sink months on end if you want to max your rares and ultrarares. All of us veterans started exactly where you are. Now suck it up, or GTFO.
