People who complain about "pay to win" are so funny in how pathetic their views are. Dud you know that IRL people with money really do have an advantage? Does that make you sad? Better get used to it, consumers willing to pay always have more if a say.
The most stupid comment I have read in months. Period.
There should be an option to pay $300 to buy the entire manifest.

Well ask Zynga how did it go when they abused the milch-cow. I have the means to max my manifest paying real money for PSPs. But as an old-school gamer I find it quite stupid.
No reason for daddy's son to come into the virtual world and keep showing everybody he's got it.

You have the money to max your manifest with real money. That means you have a choice on how to reach your goal. Just having that option is already a freedom that poor high schoolers and college students don't have. They have no choice but to grind/play waves until what they want drops.FateNeverEnds wrote...

You can play or pay based on your own initiative. No time? Buy a few packs then. Have a lot of time? Go make credits the old fashioned way. What you choose to do with that money is your business but make no mistake, EA wants your money.

So what your saying is people that don't want "pay to win" or people that don't have money they wish to waste for "pay to win" are pathetic? Maybe you should first step towards the mirror and then say who's pathetic. Just because a person doesn't agree with you does not make them pathetic.samb wrote...

It is pathetic to think you should get the same treatment as paying costumers. It's pathetic to think that EA should cater to your whims over those of paying costumers. It's pathetic to complain that people have nice things because they paid for it.wpshearn82 wrote...

If you think that EA will stop real money transactions just because of some vague "video gaming integrity", or "fairness" or "skill over money" you are deluding yourself. And hence pathetic.

I know it's called business for a reason. But for a player who wants to have fun with a game whatsoever (and I believe that's what a player most likely wants), paying to win strips the experience of any and all grace.

And again, it's not "some vague video gaming integrity", it's about principles. I would totally freak out if BW would have their customers pay for a full manifest. Not that I like the idea of paying 3 bucks per pack but it's more tolerable.
I can live with the idea of paying for consumables, or even new characters and weapons. But paying for weaponry/kits already on disc would be a total self-theft. C*pc*m, anyone?

Get over yourself. This isn't real life we're talking about, it's a video game. It makes bad business sense to hand the endgame over to the boy with the richest daddy. P2W games are widely despised, and for good reason. People buy video games to have fun and test their skill. Not to buy everything in the game and then flaunt their deluded sense of accomplishment.

Exactly.
I forgot to mention that we costumers already paid 60 dollars for the game. 120 in my case as I couldn't find the N7 Collector's Edition anywhere but e-effin-bay. So I think we deserve the best treatment there is.

but your principle of fun is not the same as someone else's. It only makes sense EA would cater to people who pay. Of course they have to balance things so they don't lose their base, but when push comes to shove? Money talks.FateNeverEnds wrote...

So what if everyone already paid 60 bucks for the game? You still had to pay for the 3 DLC right? You still had to pay for the weapons pack right? Are you telling me you somehow deserve all of that because of a one time payment? You want premium service right now? Better pay up.Volkai7 wrote...

No, it makes perfect sense to encourage people to play their game often in order to increase the chances they will use their disposable income on packs. The game itself is not the real world but BW and EA are real corportations with real shareholders. And those shareholder want REAL profits.OblivionDawn wrote...

It isn't just kids who play this game, real people with jobs play as well. In fact it is this demographic that has allowed the video game industry to become the giant it is today. You are still deluding yourself into thinking this system is catering to "boy with the richest daddy". No it is made for the full time accountant with 3 kids who just wants to use a cool gun for the 2 hours of free time he has on the weekends without grinding. That same person could be complaining about how unfair it is that high school kids and college students have so much free time to grind and buy packs without spending a dime. But they don't because they have responsibilities to attend to.

Yes, there are definitely more accountants playing bloody shooter games than high schoolers and young adults. [/sarcasm]
Every once in a while, you get a middle aged adult who is willing to shell out a couple hundred bucks for a few hours of satisfaction, but this is not the majority, or even a significant minority. And those rare specimens certainly don't generate the majority of profits (as far as non-MMOs are concerned).
No, the majority of profits come from players who pay for the core game expecting the most fun for their money. Being able to buy an "I win" button, especially in a game with multiplayer, is a turn off to the majority of the gaming clientelle. They would rather play a game that rewards time and skill, than one that allows people to buy shortcuts to stamp out the competition.

I recall playing Super Mario World back in my childhood and wonder how it would have been had the big N thought as you suggest. "Hey you know what, I don't want to play through the whole game to reach the final castle so I'll just pay 100 bucks more to have it all unlocked."
Your real life stuff is getting old real fast dude, so if you don't mind I'll laugh at you a little bit.
I really think you're at that point in which you know you're saying BS, but you just can't stop because there are too many people looking and you have to prove your point.

EA doesn't need someone to shel out lots of money at once but a few bucks every once in while from a few hundred people to generate a steady stream. You only think most players are high school kids because you play with high school kids. You have no idea what the gamer strata is.Every once in a while, you get a middle aged adult who is willing to shell out a couple hundred bucks for a few hours of satisfaction, but this is not the majority, or even a significant minority. Okay, if you are so familar with making profits then explain to me how players who don't pay generates profits? Does your game get interrupted by commercials? Do you have to take a survey from Subways? Or does your enjoyment somehow become converted into cash in EA's "money for happiness" machine? No, the majority of profits come from players who pay for the core game expecting the most fun for their money. Also forgot to mention that many, many of us not only paid for the game itself; we paid 25 extra dollars for DLC, so EA is doing us no favor here.
Wait, you paid for DLC and got it? Wow that like totally proves my "you get what you pay for" arguement. An argument that all of you should have learned when you were 5.
Edit: oops sorry you didn't prove me right. You just proved you are a person with a strong sense of entitlement. You don't think you should even pay BW for their extra work. I guess the real issue is that all of you feel EA owes you the extra content free of charge.
