BTW, people. This also applies to the Fallout series. They are not "companions", but rather, they are "followers."

They are your mates, but they are not your squad. They are your party of adventurers.

In fantasy, the main characters fighting together, are generally called adventurers. Dragon Age is fantasy. Understand?

I suppose this is no different than trying to teach people on the internet that DA2 was good/bad/both, or that Loghain was sympathetic/unsympathetic/an idiot, or that Liara is hawt/not so hawt/a female.

Everyone has their battles to fight on these forums (if that's how you care to look at it), so GL;HF I guess.

I wish they would use Mass Effect way of having squadmates. For immersion. Because I don't want to play as god above heavens that mindcontrols 4 different people in combat. I rather have it that I RP one character that issues commands.

Eh, there is really no discernible difference between a squad, party, group, whatever. They all mean the same thing. Any preference for one term or the other is strictly your own.

Not in Dragon Age. You certainly are not in a squad in Dragon Age. That's like calling armour (in any fictional setting) clothing. It's function is different. Squads function as a group of military soilders, while a party functions as a group of adventuring knights, warriors, mages, etc. You can have military in a fantasy setting, obviously, but they're not soilders. Armour functions as protection from weapons, while clothing functions as protection from sunlight, other people's eyes, criminal's weapons (you aren't supposed to hurt others wearing clothing, in civilisation).

They're terms, so you should try to use the correct terminology.

People here have too much time, when they are able to think about such a sh..
And I name it how I like it, not how a nerd here in the forum wants it.

Except fuctionally they are both the same so in context no one is going to get confused if you used either of them where.

soldier was first used in the 14th century it's not a modern word and not just used for modern day military

I'm not much of a nerd, more of a geek actually. As sad as it is...

'Sides, it's not how I want it, it's how it is. People don't give a sh!t, but they, you, are wrong.

That may be so, but it doesn't mean people should use either. Would you call the ground outside, "the floor," when there are no tiles and not straight, flat surfaces?

Unproductive discussion.

End of line.
