I take it back.
I take back almost every negative point that I had against Dragon Age 2.
I've just been so used to Bioware games that...I didn't know that there were truely worst games out there. I'm not talking about obviously bad ones, I mean the deceptively bad ones...
Back on topic....
True, the game is honestly an inferior sequel to Origins on a technical, narrative and gameplay perspecive. I never thought that DA 2 was bad, I just didn't think it was that good. The equipment system was too stream-lined for my tastes, the recycled environments were lazy, we were largely stuck in Kirkwall and a plot-hole riddled narrative falls apart in Act 3.
But whether one thought that the game was good or bad, you can still tell that Bioware at least put effort into making the game. The story wasn't perfect, but it stayed true to established lore, touched into an unconventional subject that didn't have an easy answer, presented a different format of a hero/heroine's story than they had done before and even incorporated acknowledgements of the player's efforts from the previous game.
Not to mention that it has new characters that each offered further insight into the different areas of Thedas that we as players have yet to visit and expanded Dragon Age's Lore. Not to mention that there's a list of memorable characters and scenes that made the game enjoyable in spite of it's flaws. Varric, Merrill, Anders whether you love him or hate him, the Arishok, Meredith, Mother Amell, Ketojan and several other characters were shown and left an impact on us.
As for Hawke himself, sure he's no Grey Warden and it's a bummer that you can't determine his or her race. But Hawke was still whatever kind of hero that we wanted him to be. Diplomatic, sarcastic, witty, manipulative or downright hostile to everyone around him.
And while the equipment system was streamlined, the combat's pace was increased forcing players to think much quicker and/or plan their battles more thoroughly in the event that an ambush occurs. The ninja thing was annoying, but considering that ambushes usually come when you least expect it, it made somewhat sense.
So there, I've gotten this off my chest. Who am I to argue about questionable companions when the very ability to determine how your story's main protagonist is shown and portrayed was a luxery that I took for granted. Not to mention actually having characters play a role in the story, I just assumed this to be given...I was wrong.
So you're probably wondering what exactly made me go on about this reconsideration?
Let's just say that playing through Soul Calibur V made me appreciate Bioware's legitimate effort into making quality games. As opposed to SCV which was a game rushed out the door to screw over and take advantage of loyal long-lasting Soul Series fans and didn't have the common courtesy to at least act like they cared about the fans.
In closing, DA2 may not be perfect, but it's still pretty good compared to other games released in the past few years. Furthermore, when fans complained about it's faults, Bioware responded with expansive DLC and patches which minimized these problems and promised to address them in the upcoming DA: Inquisition.
Namco's policy concerning SCV DLC support is pretty much a torch-and-burn Ops.
I've reconsidered my stance on Dragon Age 2

It is still one of the best RPGs out there made within recent two years. Skyrim and second Witcher come quite close but there, you play alone, there is no party. While indeed, DAII is somewhat inferior to DAO + Awakening, you cannot really compare. DAO is a polished work of art and had superior element of novelty. It is very hard to improve on that. However, since it is Boiware, I was also expecting that second series continuation to DAO will be like BGII to BGI. Alas, it is more like IWD II to IWD I.
Gameplay though it very good and quite manageable. I've soloed both as various classes on nightmare and while DAII is sometimes more annoying, combat is more dynamic and certainly more challenging than DAO.

Yeah I had a fresh origin playthrough my first time around with da2. I've gotten a new computer since then and redownloaded the game, playing on a pre-built background. Was much better the second time around, actually enjoyable. Then I decide to play through DA:O again to get my own choices through. I was dreading it at first, thinking I didn't want to play on a earlier timeline and graphics, etc. Then the the game loads up, that art, that music, I was just thinking THIS IS GOING TO BE AWESOME. And I realized I just had a better time loading the title screen with dA:O then I had with the entirety of DA2. I probably won't be doing the DA2 run like I had planned. You just can't play the game after coming off Da:O, it ruins it.

Last year around May I had the opportunity to play DA2 for the first time. Though I found a lot of bashing and negative comments everywhere when the game was relased, I still wanted to try it myself. So I decided to wait for a price drop and the dissapointment to wear off. And time passed, and I watched part of a DA2 PT in YouTube that resparkle my interest.
One day, looking for another game in the video game section of Mix Up, I found a new copy of DA2 in a good price. I happily grabbed the copy an forgot about the other game, and I don't regret doing it.
I'm not going to deny taht I have serious issues with some of the changes (the combat speedy pace annoys me much more that the reused environments and male Hawke's voice irks me to no end everytime he speaks), but I really enjoyed the game. I had a lot of fun playining. It's a nice game, very different from Origins and not as good but still engaging.
Oh, and the Legacy DLC is awesome, I was pleasantly surprised by it...
