Not dealing with objectives or getting revives when it's safe and close is kind of a dick move, but the OP reads like someone whining that a Volus is playing actively rather than being everyone's **** for the match, almost an attachment to the team that can restore shields.
The thing is you *don't* know.
I really wish I recorded that match, and took screenshots, to post on here, if anything.
Whomever that player was, was a compete douche.
I've played PUGs with Volus who spammed Shield Boost. Cute, but kind'a silly. Then there are Volus players who actually keep a keen situational awareness, fire Shield Boost very timely, like when a teammate is staggered, etc. Teammates who stick with the team, specially during objective Waves. So what if the Volus isn't the one disarming the 4-objective... thing? The one disarming who comes under fire? At least be near the guy to Shield Boost him, right?
Stepping back a bit for a broader perspective. Feel free to take this as a rant towards players who aren't "team players", no matter the kit. Hell, they're not part of the "core kits". A Justicar isn't, but isn't it nice when she erects a Barrier while you're disarming an objective, regardless whether you're currently under fire or not?
Essentially, just be with the team.
The first 1 or 2 Waves in a PUG are... iffy. But after that, good players get a feel on how these "strangers" play, right? Who primes, and who detonates BEs? Who primes, and who detonates TBs? Who's the main attacker? How you rotate around the map? If this particular "team" is aggressive or campy? Etc..
After, reading your replies was the guy playing volos like/ highly likely not a great team player, yes, but when playing in Public lobbies you can not have expectations for the roles of your team, or count on them, at all. If you are not prepared to solo a few rounds on your own when your team dies than I'd suggest going back to silver. Will things go wrong at times, yes. Rule one with this game though expect the worst of your team in Public games, and if they revive you, use a rocket on a spawn you are ahead in your public game. Final thought really though volos are not support classes. I am not brilliant with them, but they can certainly hold their own. You need to play them smart with patience, or be an amazing player that head shots nearly everything like Jay.
Oh, and P.S. Again, the vanguard should not have needed a nurse maid.
