I liked the happy ending option in DAO. I got to marry Alistair and become Queen, according to slides the people loved us, and sunshine and unicorns and bunnies.
However, I had to convince my boyfriend to sleep with Morrigan in order for this to happen and, oh yeah, maybe doom our future with an Old God-baby.

The bad necessary to achieve the good wasn't enough to sour the happy feels of the ending.

her personality is not awful - she is just carefull (she was trained this way by her "mother") and she is not used to human contact other then to trade a few things, steal stuff and with her mother of course (which she does not like all that much)

greetings LAX

No.

Would anyone be dissatisfied if the ending had similar proportions of Bitter and Sweet as LotR's did?

Hmm... It depends if it feel right for the game.
I have to play the story first to say how I prefer my Bitter and Sweet proportioned to each other.

At the end of DA 3 we have to sacrifice all the magic and technology with a beautiful bittersweet song from Bear McCreary in the background.

And that is one mistake people keep making.
There were 2 very good reasons eagles weren't used. ;)

What exactly was the "Bitter" part? The elves and Frodo leaving Middle Earth?

Honestly, in regards to DA2, if they just said Hawke remained Viscount/governor of Kirkwall or became a prominent figure in the mage rebellion, I would have been happy, but instead they said he disappeared.

The reason for why Frodo had to leave with the elves.
It is quite a serious thing to not be able to fit back into everyday life for a hobbit.

Gurren Lagann did the ending 100x better, a true bittersweet ending

Me3 ending was just an asspull that didn't do anything except make me feel angry and confused

Hm, only a handful of the Rohirrim and defenders of Minas Tirith are alive after the last battle. Theoden is also dead.
I would say that's bitter.

I want a choice.

I don't want an ending that is all happy. I don't want an ending where I die. I don't want an ending that is evil/gets a lot of things destroyed, etc...

I want all of them.

Sure I might choose the happy ending every time, only going for the others if there is an achievement for it like in Origins but I like having the choice.

If I decide I want to sacrifice my hero sometime at the end then I like to have the option, regardless of whether or not it's what I like in games - but I wouldn't like it forced on me.

And rainbows?

Something like Knights of the Old Republic where you're the big damn hero who's saved everyone without a hint of bittersweet if that's what you're looking for?

Or even something Jade Empire where you can marry the Princess, rule the land, and everyone loves you?

yep that about sums it up . but Like to use the example of return of the Jedi

Darth Vader  saves Luke

Luke saves his father ,

escapes the death star

"Anikin" is saved and joins the Jedi masters

han and leia have a romantic scene

and

there is even a big party

Well I dont want ME3 / DA2 / FF13-2 (original) endings ... in the sense of "you won, now watch how it was all for nothing and your main character dies / vanish and everything you have done was well for nothing anyway"

Exactly. The "bittersweet wtih extra bitter" has become the new norm. A Star Wars ending where everyone is happy in the end would be preferable to another ME3/DA2 type ending.

I'd like to. Voice Act and such things. Though I do have ideas for a dynamic character that would kick seventeen types of ass, be a squadmate, and as such may in fact have a positive reception by the fans.

So if throwing ideas down was a job, that too. :)

I always feel a litle guilty when Alistair is like... "what do we tell the wardens from Orlais?"
Like... lawl dont care, see you upstairs after?

I like ahappy ending sure. To be obtainable. To stive for when like... I've seen the doom and gloom.

But I much prefer a tinge of sadness; death or other such things... makes it much more stand out and memorable imho.

No.  Sad, mysterious, bittersweet, or whatever the hell they want is all fine.  I just want it to make sense, have closure, and make important prior decisions relevant in a dynamic way.  DAO and ME2 did all of those things without issue, ME3 had none of it.
