Score is the most important thing [Update: Disclaimer inside]

Not sure if this is a troll thread of if the TS is serious.
C'mon man you're talking about strategies and expecting PUGs/Randoms to know this stuff? Hell even some people I play with on my friends list aren't all that co-ordinated and I sure as hell aren't. I play cause it's a video game designed to be fun, exciting, and not feel like busy work or a chore to get through to appease the masses.

Also, while you do get points for completing objectives they are pathetic amounts compared to how players who see score as important can make killwhoring during a Hack, that is not skill, yes sometimes it's better to have a guy watching a flank rather than actively aiding hack but I'm talking about the dicks who rocket spawns during objectives and wave 11 (this obviously ignores Wave 3 Targets and Wave 6 Geth and Collectors where the target can be changed to a moderately easier one to take down through the process of rocketting the first spawn)..
By your logic Stikman that guy who wasted 5 missiles on Wave 11 which could be put to much better use on Waves 5, 8 and 9 is more deserving of being worshipped like the idiots on here worship Ashen (even he doesn't care for it) than someone with knowledge of spawn control and that rockets (lesser spawns) on 5, 8 and 9 (speedrunners) or campers who still rocket, just use them more sparingly (campers).
Also you can easily outscore a PUG by running into a spawn shooting, get killed picking yourself back up and shooting some more but that doesn't mean you're skilled, it means you're a ****ing idiot who doesn't understand the concept of Right-Hand Advantage, Strafe Shooting, Hard Cover and Animation Cancelling, in other words they got a high score but did so at the expense of time, consumables and external player effort. This is exactly why the Novaguard used to get kicked form every lobby it joined. Aside from the "OP" label it got during a demo (another demonstration of how idiotic this community can be, judging OPness when you only had access to 33% of the actually finished game).
So no score means nothing besides how quickly you got to a spawn and how many times you aimed at an ATLAS with one bar of armour hoping to get a free 1000 points for someone else's work, sure they still get a thousand aswell but they spent 5 seconds killing it, the other player sprayed 8 bullets into it and walked away.

But then their is the fact that when you are getting all the aggro it is easy for team mates to take advantage and pick off foes more easily. And then their is the spawn system. A little luck is involved in taking advantage of enemies spawning near you.
If their is a massive difference in score it probably indicates one player is better but it can easily be just because of gun choice. For example, I scored top in a silver game by one shotting a lot of mooks with my black widow. This took away the chance for the guy near me to use his biotics or take them down with his Geth SMG. This doesn't make me better but in this instance more efficient.
There is of course people who can solo platinum which to me indicates they are better players than me because I wouldn't ever try it. Or maybe they just have more patience to run around for more than an hour or so trusting in EA's servers to allow it. I have twice done the solo at gold level but I wouldn't like to do it all the time so then you could argue maybe it is experience at doing a solo that makes it easier for one player than the next. My point is that score doesn't make you better, experience does.

Aww Original Stikman ..still thinks this huh, not first time I heard this from him or others...it's not as black and white as he takes it...
you can throw it in my face how much you so called think you're more "skilled" than everything just cause of a score... fine do it, but you are pretty blind to your own "so called skill" I'll giv eyou props for being skullfull but just caus eyou score 20-50k more points don't make you the dominate skill....theres other playstyles other than yours and not all of them result in the most score
what a illogical thought just like N7 rank means skill or CP stacking up means skill.. it's fruitless skill is only measured in trial and error and understanding...
I hold back, cause I don't care about score ..I just wanna have fun plsu tryign too hard on a game is stupid...called a game for a reason <_<
That's the thing though. Outside the volus there is no other more effective playstyle in this game for pugs. If you aren't dishing out as much damage as possible at all times you are doing it wrong. That being said trying to solo a half of the map doesn't usually work anyway because of spawning issues. The mobs usually target and move towards the group. The game is just not set up for support roles to be effective. If you have an infiltrator set up for capping and not damage you are not helping the team.

Or you're an N7 Paladin with a detonator.
I'd rather play with people who are enjoyable to play with rather than people who know how to compete with me on the scoreboard anyway. Nuking spawns all day long with 0 chance of failure is just as boring as camping the box of shame to me.

I'd prefer to finish last, and not have died once, supported team mates, etc than finish first and died a lot.

If all you're doing is going for score, you are forcing other people to play around you and more than likely being an annoying @#$%$.
True pros know that while score is important, you get matches done faster and more efficiently while focusing on teamplay first, score second.

no, because is rare to find a good player with a volus
if someone with a volus is good he can make a decent score (40k+) and still help his teammates, if he doesn't make any damage to the enemies he's actually making the game longer and leaving more work to the rest of the team
shield boosting ISN'T the only thing a volus should do
40k+ a decent score? ha!

I've had people try this. What's really amusing is when I beat them anyway even with them using multiple missiles on wave 11 while I didn't need to use any(or sometimes used 1 or 2 for an objective wave).
They tend to just leave the lobby pretty quickly after the game ends when I do that.
Especially if I'm using a setup that uses one of the "bad" weapons.

Yes, I have said it. Its about time people just accept that score is the most important factor in determining player skill.
Actually, quite often having the high score means you suck as a player. The game is squad based but the "top scorer" often plays selfishly and is a detriment to the squad. I'd rather have a noob in the game who tries to help rather than a kill stealing, non-objective helping player more worried about his score than the success of the squad and timely completion of objectives.
It is time people just accept that some of the elitist snobs who brag about their score utterly suck at the game.

Sorry, but I see it all the time. While everyone else is in the in hack circle the "top scorer" running around killing stuff and otherwise doing all the kill-stealing he can during the game and refusing to go a step out of his way to revive others.
Aside from that the game is poorly balanced with regard to the classes. Some classes are quite overpowered and some quite underpowered.
