Quite often, to me, means more than 50% of the times at least. If you see that more than 50% of the times then I'm sorry, I feel your pain. I see someone deliberately not helping on objective wave let's say... Once in 50 pugs I do. That one gets my kick vote as soon as the match ends, and if he doesn't get kicked I leave the lobby.
But you should not judge someone by seeing their score and assuming that they milked objectives and didn't help (not saying you do, just... Precaution, you know).
If I can take myself as an example, I top the score of roughly 99.5% of the PUGs I do, and usually by 100k or so. Does that mean I milk objectives? Definitely not.
Actually, I make a point of only killing things during objective waves if that particular thing is hindering our chance to do the objective. Otherwise, I just run/kite/take aggro/dodge/take cover until the objective is over.
So... In my experience, the one who scores roughly like his teammates combined is usually the best player in that team, by a long shot. Not the worst
I don't recall you topping the scoreboard when you played with me. If I remember correctly, it was almost always myself or Weedo before you (and you know, I don't intentionally play to "top the table").
The second highlighted point:
Does this mean you don't participate (i.e., do the REAL work) in objectives? Because if so, then that simply isn't showing skill, on the contrary, it simply shows score-hogging selfishness.
One example of real skill, imo, is being able (with a vanilla character, such as the AA with no points in fitness--500 H/S) pizza carry from one end of a map to the other--while gun-ho idiots are busy taking advantage of the endless spawns AND not *covering or clearing a route as they should be*.
A further example: rescuing / rezzing newer players who have gotten themselves pinned down and cornered (which usually means spending time running: not shooting).
So yes, while scoreboards can help in indicating a players skill--it's the actual in-game experience (e.g. was it smooth, was it fun for all, how much medi-gel did you use, or how many missiles did you need etc.) that really is the better indicator, imo.
Hehe, my old friend!
Yes, of course I didn't usually top the scoreboard when I played with you. But then, that was... How long? Three months ago? Four? I feel I have learned a lot about this game in this time.
And besides, it's not that playing with you and Weeedo was pugging. We were a solid team of good players, it's something different from pugging. Pugging = searching for a quick game, in my eyes.
And no, obviously I do whatever I can to get the objective done as fast as possible. You should know, that, by the wayI don't know what gave you this idea about that statement, I just meant to say that I do not kill things unless it's necessary during objective waves. Why? Cause they might respawn in a worse position.
Example: we're carrying the pizza and this brute is following the pizza carrier, so it's not between him and the drop-off point. It's also still quite far. Usually people just shoot it down without thinking. And that sometimes leads to the brute instantly respawning between the carrier and the drop-off. Not very smart... Better to keep it alive.
Same goes with lots of other situations.
Bottom line: if it hinders our ability to do the objective, I kill it as fast as I can. If it doesn't... Then I'll let him live. For a while, at least
Edit: note that I'm not arguing in favor of the OP, saying that the score is the most important thing. I already addressed that in a post. It depends on what you mean.
I was just trying to say that the contrary is quite silly. Saying, as a guy here did, that the guy who tops the score is usually the worse player is just wrong.
You still cool
We should play again soon!
