As leader of the lowest I can speak with authority. I don't die, I aid all objectives, I kill everything in sight. I hand out positive's as often as possible. I take out Banshee's alone. Yet, at the end of the match there I am, looking up at all the higher scorers. If I make 25k, then number 1 is probably 50k, and the rest spread out, so I score half as good as the best in any UUB Quick Match. If you are in the same boat I suggest you do this: look at how the top dog got their points, you will be surprised as I was. They are getting headshots with multiple weapons.
My only complaint about poor co-op'ing (?) are those who rack tons of points while I do objectives alone. grrr.
The OP suggested speedrunning as a good strategy. No one else commented. Would that
be cool for a Kroguard/Carnage/Saber equipped player.

This was a troll thread. I created this thread with the intent to make some valid points about a subject in a very condescending manner, and then slap an unrelated sensationalizing title that I knew would stir up controversy.

It is sad; this is the culture of BSN. A culture that perpetuates sensationalized material, much like the person who gives into the sensationalizing of celebrities, their flaws, and mistakes.

I have read many of the responses in the thread. Most didn't even mention the content. Most of the responses were responding to the title and the "tl;dr" part. Hell, many of the responses stated things I never even said. Sadly, some responses were derogatory insults towards character, and poor assumptions based off of one post. All this is unfortunate.

With the internet, and specifically, this forum, we have the opportunity to connect with thousands of people all across the world and share ideas and concepts about a game that many of us enjoy and have spent hours playing. Yet when someone makes a thread looking to discuss ideas, or out-of-the-box concept, what brings people in isn't the content; it’s the sensationalized titles, the asteriks, and the ego. Without these superficial techniques to draw interest, most won’t care.

The fact of the matter is, when words like "epeen, elitist douchebag, score****, learn2play, tl;dr, and other insults," are used regularly it fosters a negative environment. This is what the BSN Multiplayer Forum is largely about. When someone puts out a video showing their skill, they get taunted as “needing validation,” when someone presents an idea, they will get ridiculed with insults. This environment would be less sad if we could blame someone else for creating it, but we can't; we created it as a whole.

We have created it by promoting ridiculous threads, such as this one, with our posts, copying others "attention-seeking" strategies and duplicating their silly threads, giving adherence to nonsensical rants, and validating ourselves through insults and personal assumptions about others we hardly know anything about. We have created it by trolling, posting spam threads, ignoring solid discussion, and being unwilling to engage in civil debate.

I have taken a part of this culture in the past. But I will no more. I will now consider myself a "positive poster," using this thread as a catalyst to show myself that positivity is needed, and that to show an example of how negativity need not be part of my “internet personality.”

I encourage you to find your own way of being positive. When someone asks a question, answer it and be helpful. When someone presents an idea, be critical yet constructive. Ask questions. Get involved with the devs and be understanding of their position. Ask them about their job and develop an understanding of what they go through day-by-day to bring us this game! Be curious, understanding, and most of all, be willing to be a part of a positive community.

To some, this may seem like a “hopeless endeavor,” and it may be in the long run. But the difference between me and the “realest” is that I actually am willing to do something about it, and that attitude translates well into all areas of life.

So, my BSN friends, I encourage you to bring positivity to forums.

Well done, sir, and well stated. Can't explain why, but I had a feeling after reading the original post that it was meant to be a troll thread and, possibly, a social experiment. Hence why I didn't bite.

Unfortunately, I'm not sure many here will feel a need or a want to change. Internet's safety blanket of anonymity allows folks to act in outrageous ways they likely would not in their regular, day-to-day life.

And that is totally okay! My hope isn't to change anyone, but to encourage those who want to bring positivty to speak up and express it! make threads! make comments! pass it on!

I am considering starting a "positive BSNers" group. Open invitation. A group where you can connect with other people who just like to have fun and be positive. I'll put it in my signature to as a reminder to know where my attitude lies.

Pretty much this, I guess.

You post a thread with a provocating title and act surprised when people actually react to that title.

Wtf?

Nontheless, I think that you have a point about the negativity in the forums. But that seems to be a common state in fan forums in general.

It's a social experiment.

That it shows weird results is kinda implied. There is 'social' in 'social experiment'.

I no longer remember if I glommed onto the fact that this was a troll thread (s'true) when I first posted in it. As happens much of the time, I hadn't read the original post since I originally clicked on the thread, and probably forgot which one it was (in fact I did, I remember making a joke about that in the other thread about how score didn't matter).

I guess my issue is with the fact that it kind of sounds like you're saying:

"I tricked all of you, and deliberately made you mad. Shame on you for getting mad."

Just to be clear - I'm not mad. I had quite a few laughs in this thread. It was easy to laugh, because I pretty much ignore the angry ranting/insulting/offensensitivity that I see in any thread. I rarely, if ever, acknowledge it.

And ignoring it works. Beautifully. (No response = look for easier target. At least eventually.)

I can think of two or three dozen BSN tags I recognize and remember because they are funny, helpful, kind, non-judgemental, all kinds of reasons.

I can remember two or three four or five BSN tags of people I consider rude or mean.

   Pretty small percentage.

I have always felt BSN is a great place.

I jump at excuses to praise this community

I think the Perez Hilton turn is great. I think your idea of focusing on positivity is fantastic. I will join your gorup if you make it as a show of support and respect. Just as long as you don't criticize people for doing what you basically asked them to do. :)

It just seems as if you wanted to expose a certain kind of poster here on BSN. And that's not very positive.

This is most of the modern world's culture these days, not just BSN. Everyone looking for the next disaster to freak out about. And if no disaster happens, people get unsettled and start making stuff up just so they have something to freak out about.

It is. Much of the internet is like this. But i don't browse every forum or social network; I browse BSN. So, i will be positive in the places that i frequent and not allow the environment to break that. I like coming here and learning and talking to people who enjoy the game. No one here is preventing me from doing that, so why not pass on the enjoyment?

Okay, that's clever. At least as far as your true intentions are concerned and whatever they may be.

Well, that's better than trying to excuse a provocative and self-centered opinion that got blown to pieces by others like it usually happens on the internet, i guess.

Mr Stikman, kudos. I spend at least an hour a day here, and concur with all your statements. You have to be prepared for all kinds of non-constructive replies, which can be difficult for beginners.
I love the sarcasm, when I can understand it. I spend a lot of time on photo and music forums, and I can tell you that the photo forums are quite similar to this one, but the music forums would make you happy. Figure that out. I have two suggestions: give the player an option to not have the scoreboard visible, and have a way for other players to give instant feedback on what that player might do differently. Preferable a checklist, as I hate writing with the onscreen keyboard. (console)
may be doing wrong.
