Weekend Operations

If a challenge is set up like this:
-Gold extraction
-Blue Weapons
-75 kill medal
All you're doing is giving rewards to the people who've already nearly maxed out their manifests, or HAVE done so. Those are NOT the people who deserve rewards.
However, here's one for you try-hards: Maybe, just maybe we can talk to the Blues and get UR rewards for certain challenges. Maybe each new banner (Save for weekend challenges) earns you one random UR. That's 26 out of 130.
Though I highly doubt it. But there's a thought for you.

It's kind of funny that people are, for the most part, coming up with challenges they complete on a normal basis but others could not. Do you really want a bunch of novice players in your gold/plat matches? If so, why?
u weren't around for the gold extractions ones i guess. lots of us (myself included) offered to help the non gold players through it. it brought the community together. helped newbs step outside of their comfort zone and we got the challenge of carrying a game. It worked out well for eveyone IMO

Does anyone want one that isn't insanely easy? How about extract on gold using only common weapons and getting at least a 25 kill medal with that weapon? Its not ahrd to make me extrac with a human infiltrator and a claymore on gold like last weekend
Well, seeing as how most of the playerbase couldn't complete that, they aren't likely to make it a challenge. Besides, if the challenges are too easy, make up more rules to increase their difficulty. It's not like you can't go into the next "Extract on Gold, any faction/map" challenge with a Shuriken and Katana instead of a Harrier and Grenade Gear V.

It is not Biowares fault that people lower it below their own skill-level in order to do challenges.
It whould be ok if they do something like "Extactions: 1 platinum OR 2 gold OR 5 silver OR 10 bronze", that way there is a reason to do it on gold/platinum without locking out bronze players.
Sorry, but the whole "force gold on everyone"-talk is basically just "I want to get more stuff then others".
The weekend operations (challenges came with retaliation) are obviously meant to make/keep people play the game, not to reward those who already earn much more credits (= more Packs = more URs in the same amount of time) with stuff others cannot get (without help).

No, I was around then. Just came back. Lots of changes. However, I remember a lot of complaining by gold players because the "scrubs" were messing up their games. I also remember alot of bronze/silver players complaining because they don't enjoy playing gold.
It's not just newbies who play silver/bronze. There are quite a lot who can play gold, but don't want to. Going back to gold challenges just forces them to play matches they don't enjoy playing. Playing MEMP is suppose to be about fun.
They could make a community challenge of 100,000 bronze matches. Bronze matches count +1, Silver -1, Gold -2, Plat -3 and try to force all the non-bronze players to only play bronze matches for a whole weekend. Don't think that would be much fun for anyone.
Just trying to make a point here. I don't think any challenges should be bronze-plat based. Do x-number of promotions, extract certain characters or x-number of extractions....whatever. Just don't force players to play difficulties they don't want to play (up or down).

What I'll say is this; if the challenge isn't interesting enough for you, then make it interesting on your own. Nobody says you have to do bronze solos for everything.

Such a strict set of challenges is not possible with the system
Hi Bryan. Could you possibly explain what is viable within the confines of the system. It does seem odd that you have an extremely complex challenge system already in place for individuals to work towards and the system manages to track up to four people in a match with not only the match stats such as kills, assists, headshots, melee etc but also each of those player's individual challenge awards but you cannot set something a little more complex up for the Weekend challenges. All the more experienced are saying is that the Challenges were "challenging" and now they aren't. And yes, a lot do now have more or less fully maxed manifests but can u not at least appeal to all players' and offer numerous one's at B/S/G and P level.

I think you will find that those who bought the game last March (also had it on pre-order for a year) started making it harder for themselves a while ago. But then you don't get any reward for that and even the sense of achievement of getting 75 melee kills, 75 headshots, 75 biotic kills....you get the idea gets boring after a time. There just needs to be an injection of something into MP by BW/EA for those who have been playing since MP released. They are losing/have lost a LOT of player's to other titles because of it. And the only thing that has brought new one's was the Trilogy release and Christmas. Wait until they are fed up as well.

This should be possible with the current system:
Make 2 challenges every weekend.
Challenge 1 is for everyone and is basically the same as what we've been doing.
Challenge 2 is really, really hard. Basically extract from platinum with various restrictions on kits, etc.
This way, both new players and veterans can find the weekend challenges fun.
This is what I was thinking, provided it's 2 commendations packs available. New players get their easy one and can make an attempt for the 2nd, but still get one potentially guaranteed one as they do now.
I always thought the community challenge and Victory Packs were a good idea since it encouraged people to play the game and aim for something together, and that the Victory Pack should have contained the N7 weapon instead of the Commendation Pack. A lot of people stopped trying to complete them when they realised all they were getting were equipment packs, new players excluded.
This wouldn't work now with the current playerbase unless the challenges were reasonable, not crap like 3,000,000 Banshees points.

it was fun though.
( banshees appear in all gold games regardless of faction)
iirc, we lost it and the consequence was banshees in all our games for a week....

It just seems that the challenges have become insanely easy. Even for a newbie? Might be wrong but I would be surprised if anyone failed in Op Genesis - taking out issues like lag etc. I don't remember the Vorcha/flamer one.
Oh and I am most def not an epeen. Just been in gaming for past 15 years, FPS and the like. I class myself as avg in ME3.

Well loyalty is definitely NOT rewarded these days. And I would be surprised if EVERYONE who owned the game since launch have max'd out EVERYTHING in their manifest - got every char/weap mod/gear, all up to respective limit.

Well technically our loyalty was rewarded with free DLC, I highly doubt so much would have been released if there weren't so many people that enjoy playing or chose to keep playing despite other big name titles being released.
Player feedback and forum activity also supports this as it shows that there is still interest in the game.
But BioWare rewarded loyal players with DLC and another forum user saying only new players "deserve" rewards is another issue entirely. I actually think "deserve" was just a bad choice of words
