MMO? No, no, nO and NO. Anymore, that genre of gaming is dead to me (for far too many reasons worth mentioning here). And this game is incredibly fantastic just as it is. Why change/ruin it?

I'd rather have them make a painfully corny "Dragon Age: Mabari Racing!!" game on the Wii than an MMO. Seriously.

An MMO way down the line, after a few of these games have been made? Well... maybe it if it was set way in the past or a good long ways into the future, just so it didn't ruin the existing story. In other words, other than being in the same universe, I wouldn't want them linked at all.

Now a multiplayer DA? Say, 1-4 players? That would be very difficult, but if they could pull it off I'd be fine with that.

I say if they must, sell the MMO license to Mythic or Cryptic or someone and distance Bioware from it.

Who knows, Mythic or Cryptic might do something good with it.

But then Bioware can focus their attention on their IP's story-based RPGs.

I'm not against MMO's but I think it's a bad idea. They will always turn into a grind fest at max level.

Always.

A very blinkered perspective and one which relies upon the game being the same as all others of it's genre thus far. This is not a bad assumption, per se, but as stated is somewhat shortsighted.

Bioware's MMO = Star Wars: the Old Republic. http://swtor.com/

I'd rather avoid having DA:O as an MMO, tbh. I like not having to constantly scuffle for gear just so I can have a "valid" opinion on the game. In WoW, at least; if you're not level 80 and don't have the super E-Peen phat lewts... Your opinion means nothing. >_>

Well untill you challenge the scrub to a duel, wipe his face in the dirt wearing a smattering of greens and blues, then post the screenshots on the server forum :)

This all comes down to the Final Fantasy Theorem. When did Final Fantasy start to suck? When they made an MMO. Then the crappy MMO ideas contaminated even the single player games to follow, ruining the series forever. So no, I don't want Dragon Age to have an MMO. I don't even want KOTOR to have an MMO. I'd much rather have single player sequels, where the story can play the role in the experience that it should. This isn't to bash MMOs offhand, as I did log a fair amount of time in WoW. Single player and MMOs are like orange juice and toothpaste. Both play a valid role in my life, but when you mix them, foul tastes ensue.

It was actually quite funny to duel said 80's that were mages with my prot warrior. Just watching their spamming protests as they killed themselves with Spell Reflect up was priceless. :D "you cheating!", "rematch nub!", "youre hacking!" >_>

I don't really think this type of game would work as an MMO. They would have to sacrifice a lot of what makes DA what it is to incorporate the type of gameplay that MMO's generally have. So I hope they DON'T do an MMO.

Most of the people on this forum are most likely just butt hurt from their WoW experience when they didn't get that piece of loot they were farming endlessly for.

DA:O multiplayer persistent world servers akin to the NWN variety would have made this my next 5 year long addiction. Because then I could have hunted down a PW or two that had a player base that meshed with my play-style preference, a GM-driven event system, and custom content game world created by other players and developers.

MMOs have too many concurrent players with different in-game goals and personal preferences to make that possible. I like MMOs for what they are, but they aren't what I would like to see DA:O evolve into. I needed a DA:O-based Vives or Exaria, not a DA:O flavored D&D Online, LotRO or WoW.

Ok...this is great...Im gonna start a thread thats called just "MMO" to see where it goes.

It is so funny...all you people are scrambling in here all making the same comments.

All because you do not understand what multiplayer is and MMO for that matter as well. Just because you think that is another WoW. Which it isn't.

But you would never understand...because when you see the word "MMO"...you go blind. Probably because all of that grinding in that crap game (WoW)....which you probably played "single player style" all the way to level 80...because that is how they do it there...despite the fact that there are 9 million people playing you're still alone...

So let me say it again: MMO

And again: MMO

Do you still feel the same?

Again: MMO

How about now?

If it was as easy as this game is to beat it would fit the mold of MMO's today perfectly.  Utterly boring and lacking in any substance at all.

When I see MMO, I see a bunch of 12 year olds yelling about politics, a bunch of half nekkid chicks charging for ERP, and a beautiful Single Player game collapsing from the weight of it all. Just WoW? No, that's just the first one that comes to mind. Happened to FF as well, if you remember. :)

Multiplayer on a LAN based connection, yes, that I could potentially see; but with an entirely different Dragon Age. Not everyone see's MMO and Multiplayer as the same thing, you know.

All in all, Dragon Age: Origins was built to be a SRPG, and an SRPG it shall stay! Posted Image

How many here have played DAoC? I think that the DAverse could be a fun setting for an mmo like-DAoC but I would rather see KOTOR succeed.

What we need is a Story-teller module.
