What we need is a Story-teller module.

And what exactly is that?

On a side note, I heard the upcoming expansion for WoW is trying to do some things with "changing the world" according to what you do, without it changing it for everyone else...  But I'm guessing the story can only be changed in one direction, so the question would only be if you had done it or not... not which way to you choose to finish it.

Yep...  Dragons Age, to remain as dynamic as it is... needs single player.  An MMO that dynamic is a long, long way off, if ever.

Turning this game into an MMO would be like taking a great painting and throwing it into a pig pen. My apologies to pigs everywhere as MMO players are for the most part a lower life form. <Yes I've played most major MMOs> Multiplayer maybe MMO no!

Sorry for being stupidly vague. What I want is (I think Nwn had it)... I become a story-teller, game-master, dungeon-master, whatever you name it and set up a scenario world. So it's like a mod for starters.
However, when player(s) log in to game, I log in too, and when they initiate a dialogue, I have the power to take over and turn it into a chat-type dialogue instead of automated choice system. I can also take control of any NPC to move them or have them fight. So, say, there is a farmer who asks for your help. I "possess" him and initiate the dialogue. If they speak so well that they convince him to help them with the quest, I will control the farmer and go with them (or I choose an automated escort option, which allows farmer to become a psuedo party member, like a few instances in the game). Then they confront the bandit leader. I take control again and do the talking.. then I do the combat and instead of letting auto combat, I constantly go for that mage who made a smartass comment during the dialogue (however, it was such a good comment that I increase the mage's coercion skill by 1).

So basically, it's mod with a dungeon-master/desktop RPG touch. Not sure if and how NWN had it, but I think it'd be cool with a good UI.

About wow: Wow uses a system called phasing. What it does is.. (giving an example) you go to an area full with undead, you kill the undead and help others claim the place and the place becomes a fortress. People who go there for the first time don't see you there, they see the undead-filled place. You only see others if you are on the same phase. So it implements a psuedo timeline. But yeah, changes are one sided. For the expansion, there is a MAJOR change in the world but that change isn't about player's actions

ArathWoeeye:

Yes, NWN had the DM client. It was the critical tool that allowed those wonderful persistent world servers to keep my interest for 5 years or so. It was lacking in NWN2, and I sorely miss it from DA:O.

Are we talking MMO or Multiplayer? Contra and Double Dragon II The Revenge were fun multiplayers. My limited experience with MMOs have only shown me that they seem to be more about making friends and pissing your family off (the latter I do enough of with CRPGs). Multiplayer....I don't know. It seems like the Single/Multi/MMO argument is whats perpetuated all of these MMO/multiplayer threads. I don't know about multiplayer, but I know too many people who are still upset that there has been no Warcraft 4. I'm hoping I don't feel the same way about TOR and KOTOR 3, but it wouldn't surprise me.

A NWN style Multiplayer would be great IMO, they already made the Toolset which is one of the more important bits all that's missing now is the Multiplayer option and a DM-Client

i hope its something they consider for an expansion or the like, i love DA:O but no matter how differently you can re-play the game you can only play a single single-player for so long before it looses its 'magic'

So if BW decided to do a DA-MMORPG, that would most surely put the focus from other DA games (just like SW:ToR probably is the main reason KOTOR III probably never will come out, just like WoW probably is the main reason there's still not a Warcraft 4).

[quote]

WoW is the reason there hasn't been Warcraft 4, Starcraft 2, or Diablo 3. sure they say there working on it but there main priority is Wow and very little has happened with sc2 or d3 since they were announced
