As for rewards: I still have an additional copy of Natural Selection 2 sitting in my Steam account that needs a new owner. So if something was to come from this idea and it seems reasonable enough to me, I could offer this as a possible reward.
Would the BSN community and Bioware support a weekly competition? Formating Poll added.

I like the idea of fun-themed runs, but not as a competition.
i agree....just dont get it why so many want competative mode in a co-op game...there are plenty of other games out there with that, every game doesnt need it

Bioware participation would likely be enough to spurn some to compete even if there is no reward. Competing against the devoplers would be fun.Bryan Johnson wrote...
I would say that (in my personal opinion) we would not be throwing in any sort of reward.
Given this would be a community run event, there is a certain degree of structure that is lost. There would be possible allegations of cheating etc. (ie what's stopping someone from missile glitching).
I would be interested to see this kind of thing, but I would highly expect we would not be giving incentive's for this
I understand on the no reward that is probably too much incentive to ruin the event for some.

How about promoting it? No need to give away prizes not sure anyone want to open up another eagle upgrade besides hipsters and HeroicMass

I think we used to have some community N7 challenges (independent of BW's N7 weekend event) during the week but it has kind of died off recently and I don't think the challenges took into account the community's opinions.Strongwater wrote...
I think this would be fun just as a weekly poll of "challenges", community votes, top scoring challenge is the week's challenge, and we have a thread or two where we can find teams to run with, all talk about the outcome afterwards, lessons learned, funny stories, etc. I would certainly participate...I'm actually surprised people aren't doing this already.

If a community-organized event were to get up and running for a little while unofficially, would it be likely to open the door to Bioware creating something? Not a commedation pack or anything that would effect manifest.
Maybe a banner, or something mostly cosmetic?

This.
Plus they did not get involved with the Arena challenge going on right now.

Doubtful...as with the Arena Challenge we made our own "banner"....if Bioware says they wouldn't get involved it means no prizes, packs, banners, anything. Just maybe some dev participation.

ie matches
-Asari team, Thessia, Reapers
-Salarian team, Sur'Kesh, Cerberus
-Krogan team, Tuchanka, Reapers/Cerberus
-Turian team, Menae, Reapers
ect, Lore specific would be a great start. Thoughts?

Yeah I thought "Lore Specific" games would be fun. IDK might discourage some players that don't like playing a specific race or faction but I think if we had a thread for suggestions then took a few of the best to allow people to vote it would be good/fair.blackproject18 wrote...
You know you can always count on my support nuke. I think this is inspired. I would like to give this a trial run later in the pugs tonite. Maybe try some lore specific matches or something, see how randoms take to it. Could be promising.

Objective: Extract on any difficulty on Firebase White against the Cerberus or the Reapers.
Special Restrictions: Use only one of the kits from the list below. Only one player per kit in a team. (Eg, no two Vorcha soldiers)
Kit1: Salarian Engineer using AT-12 Raider
Kit2: N7 Paladin using M-37 Falcon
Kit3: Female Human Vanguard using Phaeston
Kit4: Vorcha Soldier using Scorpion
Kit5: Drell Adept using M-98 Widow
Kit6: Female Quarian Infiltrator using M-12 Locust

I like that format personally. Pretty loose restrictions to encourage involvement and against a couple of factions.Bryan Johnson wrote...

IDK would people prefer a more strict outline like 4 unique Asari/Reapers/Goddess or the above or a mix and match pool of a few weapons and kits versus two factions on a particular map?

I like both formats - that's why I like the idea of having it determined by poll (at least so long as people are generally okay with either, otherwise each week I guess the same format could end up winning...)

I like the discussion part of it but I think we have enough great groups on BSN.blackproject18 wrote...
OR.... set up a group for these kind of matches and have a discussion line for each type of match wherein they are setup and players can join, just to get this off the ground. This would provide the knid of flexability needed to accomidate each genre of player. Brilliant, absolutely brilliant. It shall be done. You have my support.

Probably be best to use loose restrictions with some stricter critera for specific events? That way we could accomidate more players. That way the hardcore guys like yourself, Ashen, Disciple, and myself could get out of it what they want, whilest the more leasurely players can still get a similar experience without the strict stipulations.

The strict criteria is what makes it most interesting, IMO; the problem I run into is not having the inventory to carry it all out. As long as there are ways around that, I think it's a great opportunity to give players a way to measure themselves against each other. I understand that it's PvE format as designed, but most players always want to know who's better amongst them and are ready to put their skills on display at first sight of the opportunity.
