A quick question for those in the know, what sort of fighting style does Maric adopt? Is he a dual hander, a great weapon user, or a sword and boarder?

From what I've read so far it was sword and shield. Maybe I'm wrong and not reading that properly.

I don't remember a shield, but he had a really awesome sword that looked like Starfang. That's what he used from the second half of the first book and throughout the second book as well.  It's on the cover of The Stolen Throne.

Yeah I saw that, it was mind boggling... he has a blue glowing sword O_O

The shape looked like that 1 handed sword in the game, the huge curved blade, forgot what it's called, but I loved it.

It is an awesome sword. I don't remember a shield either but I wanted to cover my bases. I knew for a fact he used a sword and Loghain was teaching him more about using the sword and archery.



That could be why. I'm just at the point after Loghain and Rowan had a duel.

Hmm... alright I'll give him just a sword then, albet less glowing and more cold, hard, steel. Wonder what ever happened to it? Was it lost at sea?

Actually, it did glow.  It was a dwarven enchanted sword.  I think it glowed blue just like Starfang.

Well, come to think of it, I think it only glowed blue if Maric was near darkspawn.  Otherwise it may have looked like a normal dragonbone sword.

It's almost complete! Just the tree behind them and I'm done, but that's for another day since I need to do work now!

I actually wanted this to be rather empty in terms of background, with only a tree to tie together the composition, so it's going to have a lot of white space in it Thats why there are those white grass leaves at their feet.

I understand the need for sparsity.  It underscores their "taking on the whole Empire by themselves," thing they have going on. I was just teasing.

Nice work. Maric looks fine to me, you put enough there to show the whole "overly handsome prince" thing he's got going on but left it obscure enough to show it's not his looks that really define him, I think the pose you put him in perfectly symbolizes his rather casual, almost smug approach to life considering the circumstances.

Yeah, I over analyzed it, good work though, very nice drawing.

I wish I had thought of that before I started drawing it... I can see what you mean by that though, I just thought they looked badass in those poses, although I did pick Loghain's pose on purpose, the kind of loner, brooding sit brooding loners like to do, and I based Maric's pose more on those laid back punks, since technically these 2 are the punks of Fereldan!

Great drawing. The contrast between Loghain and Maric is very nicely done. Loghain looks more serious and brooding, while Maric is like "meeh" but has more charm to him. Great work!
