This is horrible. Clothes that aren't being sold should be given to people in need.

Walmart spokeswoman acting surprised that this is happening? Wait... was I supposed to believe that? As for the H&M spokeswoman... ya you better stop ****ing destroying clothes that shouldn't be destroyed in the first place and could be given to people in need.

It's an absolutely deplorable practise. Even if they weren't going to be given to charity so they could go to people in need, most fabrics can be recycled. The sad thing is that this has been going on for years and several companies have been doing it. It's only now that two of the big chains have been caught red-handed.

Hopefully this will make the other offenders realise that there are better things to do with unsold clothing that won't negatively impact consumer confidence.

Considering the amount of effort that obviously went into ensuring the clothes weren't properly wearable, they could more easily have arranged for the clothes to be picked up by a charity.

Dear H&M,

Please give me some of your unsold skinny black stretch-denim jeans. I fit between a size 4 and 6, depending on the Spandex/Lycra/elastane content. Small black crombie coats would also be appreciated.

That is all.

Your best bud,

While I would prefer that charity received such goods, I would not wish any law being made that forced anyone to do so with their own items. If such were mandatory, then it ceases to be charitable.

Laws are unnecessary. This is nothing a firm kick to the crotch wouldn't fix.

Imma gonna go find my aerating shoes...
