Agreed. Going the long way of sticking to Bronze and Silver until I have better gear and weapons to play on Gold. At least I can try out different combos better and seeing what works instead of dying because I'm unprepared.

I enjoy helping new players as do many of the friends I run with from BSN, Spaniard (ryoldschool) and I do it often taking silver players into gold and Plat, they do well as we take the time to show and explain the ropes, myself and Merc took a few through gold this evening, they had crap for weapons but they did excellent, we laughed after our last match as we received friend requests.

When someone is looking for help on BSN, I am happy to put my GT forward and do whatever I can, I have always believed what goes around comes around.

I was saying in a game lobby last night it irks me that some take it upon themselves to put other players down in order to make themselves look good, in their own eyes, I think we owe something to a game that we enjoy or love by giving a little back, IMHO.;

I dun play this game specifically to help people, but I dun mind 1-2 low levelers or people w/ weak loadouts joining gold every so often. The hard part is not necc the match, but getting into a lobby where the other members dun want those types of players kicked :P

You say that now, what happens when you get somebody who accuses you of cheating because can see through smoke and walls, not understanding that you are using the thermal sniper scope?:o  On a serious note, I am always obliged to help those in need.  My problem is I don't think I say enough as far as my 2 cents when it comes to builds and loadouts.  I do have a youtube channel, I think I need to include the builds in them and explain why they are set up that way.

I generally give a player with a beginner's manifest a shot. However, I don't like it when players do not use consumables on a higher difficulty. If you constantly bleed out or refuse to ever use rockets, then you're just expecting to be carried and not improving your skill.

Sad part of that is the player was from BSN, for those reading i was using a SI running a BW with the new scope, this player spent a considerable amount of time in spectator mode and called me out on hacking something because enemies were showing red behind cover and loosing their heads due to my drill round 3`s which I was informed was not possible........I made no comment.

And Rouse, where the heck were you tonight...

The problem is not noobs per se. The problem is noobs going into Gold without level 20 characters, weapons without both mods equipped and refusing to use consumables, medi-gel etc. Not to mention the noob hosts who always rage-quit when team-mates could no longer be bothered to keep reviving them.

Yeah, about that.  I was on, but looking at my friends list, I saw everybody was in the middle of a match.  Didn't want to disturb.  Oh and the fact I put my status as offline when I went to eat and forgot to turn it back online when I returned didn't help.  So I was PUGing it.  Some pretty good runs except the last one when I got grabbed by a Banshee.  I'll be careful to turn my status back to online next time, or just turn off the Xbox when I leave the room.

I always laugh at these.... It's as if people don't even know what there is to unlock, or they never actually look at the descriptions of certain mods... :pinched:

Now is the time to go well out of your way to revive. Lets show our new players our generosity, because I am finding I am playing medic lately, but those I revive are picking me up more than before.

Agreed, provided it doesn't wipe the whole team.

There are certainly more new players - and yes we were all new once.

I remember posting on BSN (last April maybe) how hard (and scary) it was to complete a Bronze mission with ONLY 3 players because we had a Leecher.

I think I got called a 'sad panda' :-)

I will 'keep an eye out' for recent players in the mission.
i will revive more actively.
I won't walk around like their shadow - they need to L2P like everyone else.
I won't rescue them from death at the expense of taking a 1HK myself.
I will (carefully) solo the wave if needed.

I like the variety; some missions of all N7 x,000, some of newer players.

As long as I have one of my regular buddies with me in my gold lobby, I'll play with anyone.

Not on plat though.

I'm always soft on noobs. I'm in the unique position ofbeing a hardened veteran on the xbox and under N7 40 on PC. I know what I'm doing, but it's always nice getting some help when you have crap gear.

There's "helping new players" and there's carrying. IMO, carrying isn't fun, and maybe it's selfish but I'm playing this for fun. It's also probably not all that fun for them (though you do get the occasional "Whoa.... you guys are really good..." which is always quite ego boosting) so I will keep on hopping in and out of lobbies that I think are too questionable quality-wise.

FTR, on silver I will play with anyone, on gold if I have one other person I will play with anyone (though we will probably mic in and try and offer advice, like "piercing doesn't help the gps..."). On platinum I reserve the right to kick anyone.

Maybe it's a little heartless, but I spent several hundred hours in bronze, and then silver, learning how to play. The best guns in the game won't make you suddenly a gold player (the number of Harriers on silver is freaking ridiculous. And you can still outscore them with a QMS Avenger if you know what you're doing), so playing above your level for credits is just frustrating for everyone.

And if you're a legitimately good player with a crappy manifest for whatever reason (I know a number of them), there are ways to show you know what you're doing. A player with a mattock V with appropriate equipment on a non-weapons dps reliant class will not get a kick from me.

Started playing with a few people who'd only do silver on a good day, and stick to bronze otherwise.

Their first gold game was them sticking together, just trying to not die, which was a feat in itself. (try recalling your first gold games.)

They both find silver boring now because of how easy they find it and they vastly prefer gold.

How do you expect them to learn that fire's hot if you don't let them play with the flame?

As stated we all had to start somewhere and as a guy who seemed to be cursed with getting horrible packs I've come to realize that while stronger weapons do make the game easier, it is possible to win with "weaker weapons" if you play good enough. I have a Harrier 1, just got a Typhoon, and a Reager, and I do fine. They have to learn to play eventually and its better that they play with those of us who know what to do then play with each other the whole time and learn nothing.

I will always helps noobs out. BUT...if you are in a S/G game and you are obviously not capable of that difficulty, because you've died 5 times in the first wave, but you insist that your Avenger I + Soldier 1 is going to save the day, then NO, sorry.

Do what everyone else has done on here and work you way up, as fast or as slow as it takes.

Also, take the time to find out which char/class/weap/power combo suits your playstyle. We are all different. Like many, I've played ME trilogy for 4 years and have built up experience gradually. What I tend to see in PUG lobbies is ppl swapping and changing char/gear/weap after each match because they were not top in scoreboard instead of getting to know the intracacies of that build.

It takes time to gain skill and ME is diff to most FPS (which is what I came from) in that you have both ammo and powers. Knowing which to use in which situation is something that can only be learnt through trial and error plus help from the bsn And there are a lot of ppl out in the community that want to help the "genuine" noobs learn.

Above all ENJOY and have FUN. Nobody appreciates someone screaming down the mic at them. Posted Image

This.

You are not heartless. People who deliberately screw others in their greed and ruin other peoples fun on purpose, or leaving by the first sign of trouble because the carrieng is not fast enough for them, deserve to get kicked. This are the ones people complain about, OP.

Putting on equipment, bringing in effort  and try to actually play the game instead of leeching are a completely different story. They bothered to learn the basics of the game, leveling basic gear by obtaining recruit/vet packs and can now only get better by playing gold. And no, OP, noone is complaining about the later. They actually get a lot of help.

I was doing Gold charity runs all day. If you've got at least one reliable person, it's not bad at all.

What strikes me is that most of these newer players have no clue how far behind they are, both in manifest and skill. I was in a discussion earlier today with one of the people I was running through Gold; he kept insisting that his manifest wasn't bad at all when he had only a handful of uncommon rare weapons, all at rank 1, and virtually no mods. When they die, they have no clue why they died and generally think they took an unlucky shot. When they're at 10k points on wave 9 of Gold, they don't know why exactly they're so far behind.  When we have a really tough objective wave, they don't understand it's because they ran the pizza the wrong way or that they missiled things that didn't need to be missiled, making them spawn behind us.

It's not just that they're not Gold ready (on their own).  It's that they have no idea that they're not Gold-ready or what being Gold-ready would entail.

I think I'd forgotten how much I've had to teach myself.

not really a new phenomenon; back in March of last year there was a ton of ****ing about people doing gold's when they should have still been in silver or bronze.

i had all my uncommon weapons maxed out before i ever tried gold

then i tried once, and failed and went back to silver

i tried again when i was absolutely sure i can survive with certain kit (TGI and VS), and always made sure to put on correct equipment

and when i join/open a u/u/g lobby and see a guy with mattock III with explosive rounds and no gear or level I gear in the bottom right slot, i don't like what i see

more often that not, they won't react to me talking to them in the lobby, and even if they do, i am too busy during the game to track their actions and give them tips

Would you want someone who is N7 rated 12 bringing a lvl 12 soldier equipped with Avenger V and Predator V into Gold or Platinum?

People kinda right to complain when stuff like this happens.

This. I didn't try to do pug golds until 2 months after I got the game. It's common sense to wait til you're prepared. I'll gladly teach any noob what they need to know on silver, but I'm  not spending over 40 mins carrying a team of 3 people with lvl 2 weapons on gold or plat.

I don't mind new players. I do mind new players on the wrong difficulty.
I've played A LOT of bronze and silver before even thinking about playing gold so I expect everyone else to do the same. This is called: COMMON SENSE. A thing many players severely lack.
When I see a N7 100 with a lvl 12 human vanguard with a Katana VII on a Gold Lobby it's a no brainer: Quick! Kick it (preferably in the head).
Last night I was so pissed off by the stupidity of most of my teammates (some of them fairly leveled and equipped I must say) that I equipped my trusty Avenger X, my Predator X on my Human Soldier 20 and waited for some victims on the gold lobby. I didn't even use any consumables, except the permanent Assault Rifle Amp. To my surprise, the team was so ""good"" that we got a parcial extraction and I came first with 115.000 points and the second one (A Geth Trooper) got 60...

I saw people on top of each other refusing to revive. Some guy was eating something the whole time and we all could hear him eat. I had to beg for them to use missiles. I don't even know how we managed to extract at all...

For every good game, I can count at least 9 bad ones. And almost all of them are bad because of equally bad players. People should play bronze and silver until they are good enough for gold and play gold until they are good enough for platinum.

Please note that: I ALWAYS strive to help the team, often sacrificing myself so I can revive someone who is going to get stomped or using my missiles when the situation calls for it, so it only serves to ****** me off when people do the exact opposite and make me waste time and equipment in a game.

When I was able to finish Bronze solo,I jumped to Silver.Same thing with other difficulties.
But,I did not play many shooter games.
