Hi, I bought DA:O long ago, played and liked it a lot but then started playing World of Warcraft, and well, you know how those games can be. Recently, after finishing Mass Effect 3, I decided to restart and finish DA:O, and so bought the Ultimate Edition as it was quite cheap.

I had some trouble with the DLCs as they were marked as 'Unauthorised' - updating to latest patch fixed it. I still have a small question - does it matter when or in what order do I finish the DLCs? I mean, in terms of plot or rewards, does it make sense to do the DLCs at a particular time in the game? I just started as a Mage and finished the Harrowing.

PS: Why is there no Ultimate version of Mass Effect 2? I would really like to play the DLCs in there but I won't pay full price for DLCs for an old game!

Here's a blog with some suggestions about the order to install the DLCs. As to just playing them, do them in any order you wish. But if you do them earlier in your play through there are some items that will put certainly help make combat easier.

The Stone Prisoner, Warden's Keep and Return to Ostagar are all done within Origins. They are accessable once you reach the middle section of the game and are able to travel freely around the map. They can be done whenever you wish, though many people prefer to do The Stone Prisoner as early as possible for reasons which will become apparent when you do it.

Once you complete Origins, do the following DLCs in the following order:
Awakenings (actually an expansion)
Golems of Ammmggaaaakkkkhhhh (or something)
Witch Hunt

And that is the end of your warden's story.

Leliana's Song and Darkspawn Chronicles are standalone stories and can be done at any time, though there are also spoilers in them, so they should be done after Origins. Actually, Leliana's Song is a prequel, but the same still applies.

Thanks Ferretinabun for the detailed reply - I am still doing the starter mages' quests, but just exploring and reading stuff is so addictive in this game that I don't care if it takes me 100 hours to finish the game :)

Jeffonl1, thanks for replying but there's no blog link in your post :(

That's exactly the way to play it! Savour it. The more you put in, the more you get out. I promise you, the game will reward you for it.

On the nexus there are a few well made dungeons to enjoy as well. Not as crisp as the Bioware ones but still plenty of fun.

Thanks for the replies guys. I have been too busy playing DAO and didn't get a chance to reply. I have clocked in over 50 hours and I have yet to get the support of the Elves and do the other half of the Redcliffe story (Urn). Then there is Awakening.

Also, there was an Origin sale and I got Dragon Age II for just $5 :D
