Very simple request, and I'll try and avoid my usual tendency to ramble.

The existing Dragon Age games contain rather a lot of running and back-tracking (Andraste's Ashes temple, and Wounded Coast spring to mind). I often find that my fingers ache from having to keep them constantly at work, covering these distances via key presses or dual mouse button holding (talking about the PC here, obviously). It's probably worse for me, in that I suffer from mild RSI in my right hand.

I read somewhere that you were considering options to make DA:I more 'open worldy', or at least take some inspiration from Skyrim.

If this is the case, I feel it would make sense to include an autorun toggle. It would certainly make life easier.
Thank you.

Supported, and I'm a console gamer (doubt it needs to exist on console since you're simply applying a little pressure forward with your thumb). Seems to me like it'd be an easy thing to implement that could help a lot of PC gamers enjoy the game a lot more ^^

Yes please! I destroyed the W (and to a lesser extent, ASD) key on my last laptop from playing another game with a lot of running (WoW); I felt sheepish getting the keyboard replaced at the store because only gaming would mess up that set of keys.

I prefer manual key-based running because the "go to point" click option is just clumsy, vertigo-inducing, and gets easily blocked by terrain/avatars. Autorun would be wonderful.

If it makes life easier for PC players, sure.

I don't really have a problem on my 360, but the world doesn't revolve around me, so yeah, I'd back anything to help y'all out.

I was just about to go "WTF are you talking about, you're always running", but then I remembered that one of the benefits (of the few, I admit this) of playing the console version is that you're always auto-running unless you make a concerted effort *not* to.

I'm a little bit confused that they DIDN'T give you an auto-run feature.

I always use the mouse...

I wouldn't use autorun myself (always have to have a hand on mouse or keyboard to steer anyway), but I can see the value for gamepads and other input devices.

I assumed auto-run in this case is referring to a run toggle - press button to start running, press button to stop - rather than the actual speed difference between run and walk (or analog input).

Yeah, that was my first reaction too. Wonder how you 'walk' on the computer.

I support this option, it would be really useful to have.

I can never handle autorun. I find WASD natural and something I can do without thought, whereas autorun requires conscious thought to start, and then I'll probably forget to stop.

Not that I oppose the addition of the feature, assuming it's as easy to implement as it seems it should be.

'W', hold right click to steer.
Or you use WASD.

Hold down a key (usually W) to move forward at the default speed. Hold down another key at the same time (usually SHIFT) to walk/run.

Well, that remind me off the really old joystick where you didn't had the analoge stick (or it wasn't in use) and had to press O (or something) to either walk or run at the same time as pressing directions. Possible, but slightly annoing and not something you wish to return to after the joy of the double analog stick.

Wait, you have to does that mean you potentially have to hold W + Shift + mouse to steer and run?

There is actually a run/walk toggle key; I mistook it for autorun and went "Yeah!". Then I realized that it only let me walk... which I never found useful in-game. :(

When I want to feel in control, I use W + r-click. But when I'm just traversing (such as to find that last dang elfroot), autorun would be very nice to have.

In Dragon Age the default movement speed is running so you don't need to hold SHIFT to run. You can also move with just the mouse by holding both buttons down together.

Usual hand position for PC gaming is one hand over the left side of the keyboard, using WSAD keys to move forward/backward and turn or strafe, and the surrounding keys (QERFZXC, TAB, SHIFT, CTRL, SPACE) for game actions. By convention, SHIFT is usually the walk/run key when that function exists, CTRL or C for crouch or similar, SPACE for jump, other keys as required.

The other hand is on the mouse, using left and right buttons for the main two actions of the game, whatever those may be, and other buttons if they exist for other functions of your choice.

I use a gamepad for racing and other driving games where the analogue control over speed and steering is really useful. Can't beat a mouse for precision in other types of game though. Each to their own :)

I always thought it would be nice to point to a spot on the map and have my character just run there automatically without clicking within the game world or using WASD.

I think I prefer the analog 'Light/Hard press and titl in the direction you want'. This sort of remind me of why I prefer my console.

Too many bottoms for nothing next to each. When I play computer games i try to use the mouse as much as possibe. I vaguly remember playing a game with the WSAD and accidently pressing Q (Next to W) which caused the game to close in the middle of an important fight.

W runs? I just use the mouse. An alternative would be to have a detached camera, then you could just click on whatever spot on the map you are heading towards.

The problem with the game being on current gen consoles is that it will probably mean a worse game for ALL platforms, not just those on 360/PS3.
