Once you unlock Bow Expert you can just rope dart non armored enemies and then use the Bow Expert skill to stab them in the head with an arrow. It's quite fun.

Finished the game last night. God I loved it so much.

And um... was I the only one here getting the vibe that Lara and Sam where more then friends? I don't think CD necessarily aimed for that portrayal but they tried way to hard to show off how close Lara and Sam are as "friends" if that was the case.

The lore of the island was great too. This was CD's best work handling ancient folklore and powers, and I can't wait to see what mythos they tackle next.

You're not the only one, there's much debate about it on the forums. But I didn't get that impression at all.

Yeah I've been lurking the TR forums but I don't really want to post about it there because it's a disaster area.

Though I think it's not really debatable whether they love each other or not. It's the nature of their love that's debatable. (I certainly wouldn't go through all that for someone I didn't love)

Their relationship reminded me a lot of Xena/Gabrielle.

Oh, I do think they love each other. In the best friend/sister kind of way. Lara went through Hell for her, there has to be some deep bond there.

 What really gets it for me is the "fire ceremony" and spoilers When Lara and Sam both think they're done for Lara just wants Sam to look at her, share their final moments staring into eachother's eyes.  /spoilers


I think they needed more backstory to really get their relationship properly defined.  As it stands, the whole, we wen't to college together, and became friends because we're both rich, smart, gorgeous outcasts thing is really ambigious and doesn't give the proper set up for their bond.

At least this Tomb Raider had characters with some semblance of a backstory. From what I remember the others never really had that.

So I ended up liking that a game a lot more than I was expected.  Maybe my favorite game since November 2011.  At any rate, the ending seems to hint what a sequel would involve.  Ending spoilers can be highlighted: So her journal says 'Croatoan'.  You can Google for that and find out about the lost colony of Roanoke.  And people have used that word in association with other mysterious disapperances in the United States.  So perhaps this is a mystery Lara's father was intrigued by, and she's going to take up his search as she continues her move towards deciding her father wasn't crazy. Is there some mystery behind his disappearance that she'll look into.

The thought did cross my mind but if that were the case, you'd think Sam's journals would hint or outright tell us that. Furthermore, at the end of the game, Sam and Lara would be together, instead we see Sam hanging out with Reyes and Jonah.

Hmm interesting thought. Although I never had the impression they had something, it is a thing to ponder about.

I loved the game and I also got the vibe that Sam and Lara were far more closer than just friends.


This game is a really must own.


It does have problems, of course one of my major criticism is about pacing... too much focus on the combat BEFORE it feels right (I think it should have been just sneak around a few guards till the "Rescue Sam" section, and after that once Lara is far more decided send big waves of enemies)

I was hoping for a big ol' sloppy kiss at the end...

I did laugh when Laura arrives at the boat caryying Sam...That's like a 3 mile trek from the monestary.

Same. I'm not opposed to Lara being in love with a girl but I never even got a whiff of that being the case in this reboot.

I just think its people seeing what they want to see whether its there or not. Thats not a bad thing, as thats the case almost all the time with fiction.

Lol! I admit I'm not oppossed against the idea at all. Because I do think that Lara and Sam were cute together.
