*Big Spoilers(that you will see coming a mile away anyway, but seriously don't be looking if you've not played yet)*

She had the blood of Himiko. That's Japanese enough for me.

Having too many games to play at the same time :P

I hear that. I'm already in a tangled web of games atm, and it will get worse, once BioShock Infinite, Remember Me, Dragon's Dogma: Dark Arisen, Dead Island: Riptide, yada yada yada, are out. I think I have a problem.

I don't care either way, but after reading Sam's diaries and seeing her behavior, I was starting to wonder. Or maybe I just like lesbians.

All the crew's diaries were like that. Everything they wrote was all "LARA!!! SQUEEEEE!!!" Sam also mentioned her and Lara on a trip with alot of cute guys.

Then again I find caring either way about a fictional characters sexual orientation a waste of time. I'd be more concerned with how they will expand upon things like survival, puzzles, actual tomb raiding and maybe move away from being a shooter to a degree as opposed to who Lara is getting it on with.

I don't think they were as sqeetastic or affectionate as Sam, but you're right, Laura was the apple of their eye. I hated the crew to be honest, it was where the writing was weakest. At least I could empathize with Laura, mostly due to great voice acting. If they do make her gay, it should be a peripheral element. But I doubt CD will allow it.

But anyway, games are the point. Gaming is still quite young, and still hasn't evolved to the point where its mature enough to accept things like lead homosexual characters.

Movies were like that too in their infancy.

Movies?

Anyway videogames are certainly not in their infancy

Console/home gaming wasnt even in it's infancy in the 90's, then it was recoving from a prepubescent market crash that happened 30 years ago...

As long as people keep saying things like "it's not mature enough to handle it" it never will be. It's the attitude of the developers and producers that need to change.  Mind you when Xena was being introduced the producers explicitly told the writers, "no lesbianism"...

The character portfolios they released before the game came out explicitly said Sam's father is a Japanese media mogul (his occupation/last name is actually a reference to a character in Tomb Raider Legend), and her mother was a Portuguese model from Los Angeles.

Another thing that proves romance between Lara and Sam!

Those two identical guns that Lara and Sam share. BFF guns!

I don't think this is a shooter by any means. I spent way more time platforming and exploring then shooting sofar. The sequences are well paced. Even happy they respawn enemy cult members here and there out in mountain village. I do think the puzzles are way too easy. Just 25-50% harder and more complex would be nice. And larger tombs.

But level design imo is very good. Small details are also really great.

Larger levels for sure, bigger tombs, more isolation...but keep that gunplay. I loved it.

I thought that was an excellent way to bring in one of her most iconic weapons(set of).

Puzzles were indeed easy and I think they assumes that players are idiots. White paint is just way too obvious. With fine tuning they can really improve the game even further.

Liara & Sam: They're just really good friends, no reason to twist it as romance.

I agree. Liara and Sam are just good friends. Lara and Sam on the other hand...

I agree there's nothing going on there really...

But EDI & Sam... what exactly happened that night of the party?!

Yeah the new bow kinda made her dual pistols feel less iconic. I feel like she has two set of iconic weapons now.  I hope the bow comes back as a silent weapon for stealth.

One of the sweet things about the bow was when I shot it, I would pull back the string.

In Shanty Town and did a bunch of digging around. For a compact area, at least sofar, level design is pretty complex. Took me an hour to explore everything I see in front of me to my intial satisfaction. Exploring another tomb now and then will be doing a quick breeze through the area for any more loot before moving on.

One of the best moments in the game (for me) was the climb to the top of the radio tower:

The music is just epic.
Does anyone know the name of the song playing from 1:07 to 1:50 in the video above? Thanks.

It sounds like they're looping the 2:38 to 3:03 section of "A Call for Help" from the Tomb Raider soundtrack (Jason Graves).
