I was thinking that it kinda looks like Nathan Drake trying to cosplay as Lara Croft. And that shark in the background is feckin terrifying.

When people say your girl looks like a guy, you know you did something wrong. xD And thats not a shark btw, from that distance a shark's fin would look a lot smaller. Just a sunk ship.

Speaking of Drake, I simply love this [language warning]

The new Tomb Raider is great. Would've been better if the multiplayer was nonexistent though and more was added to the single player campaign.

Or a sort of co-op epilogue which would unlock after you finish the story and where you play as Lara and another person ..Sam maybe? That would have been a better way to incease the longeivity of the game than the multiplayer.
That or use the resources to make harder and more numerous tombs.

A Lara/Sam co-op thing would've been cool.

Hah, they can technically still do that in a future TR game.

And if they decide to pull the trigger and give the two of them a relationship, that would be interesting.

What LP? Pretty sure Lara isn't a lesbian :P

As for multiplayer:

The multiplayer is hilarious. I can't take it seriously. The running animations for characters are hilarious and you can just jump across the whole battlefield to the point where you're avoiding enemy attacks and flying at some points.

It sucks though. I did really good at it (even got 10 kills in once match without dying) but it got boring quick and only the comical value kept me playing, which died after a few matches, so I have never played it again. Can't really criticize them for adding it though. It wasn't them who developed it so they never wasted time or resources.

I am surprised it turn out as horrible as it was though what with it being given to a separate team (Edios Montreal). You'd have thought they were given enough time to produce something decent. I guess the fact it exists is enough to make anyone hate it considering it's not any good.

If they add multiplayer in the next installment then they should make sure it's good or not add it at all just for the sake of it (which this most certainly was).

Best Tomb Raider ever IMO though. The story, exploration and gameplay were all fine and fun and the game lasted just long enough. I agree that tombs could have been longer but I don't think MP had anything to do with their length (considering it was a separate team working on MP). I think they had less emphasis because of the story. For me it sometime seemed at bit unrealistic for Lara (a woman fighting for survival and trying to save her friend) to drop everything just to explore some tomb for riches and gold. However if they added them as part of the story that could have overcome that problem, as it were there only two-three tombs in the main plot IIRC....

Another thing was that there was too much combat. By the end it's pretty much established Lara is a badass. Good. Now the next installment can focus on more exploration (and make it proper open world this time).

Not that we know of, at least. Trust me, I was telling people that they were seeing things that weren't there when they were headcanoning something between Lara and Sam.

Then you find out that the writers had considered making Lara dig chicks romantically. Technically they could still do that, don't know if they will.

Doesn't really matter to me, thats up to them. As long as its done for the sake of the character and not the masses, I'm all for it.

I finally bought this game in the recent Steam sale. I've just finished the parachute and the river section. Got impaled several times... Otherwise really enjoying this. I like the shotgun. :P

I didn't notice this thread, I liked this game, had a good time playing, might go back soon.
The camera work really added to the atmosphere and I never found myself fumbling with the controls when they suddenly changed perspectives.

But my aunt bought it for her kids that are less than 10 years old, I kind of disagree with that.

As a man that roams deviant art everyday(those that know me know why), Sam and Lara... art was out before a month was passed.

Never tried the multiplayer, when I saw Achievement Hunters do a Let's Play, I knew I couldn't enjoy it unless I had friends fill it.

I hate when parents buy their kids games that are beyond their maturity level and then blame the games or the game developers for their kids acting out.

Oh, they clearly knew what it was and thought that it wasn't that bad, you know, the game where you see a women impaled on a dead tree and beaten to death if you make a wrong move(talk about negative reinforcement.)

Ugh. At least its not CoD or some online multiplayer shooter. I went to some friend's relative's place and their kids were playing CoD. I didn't need to see it, I could tell without being in the room just by hearing them scream and yell and curse. The kids had to be like 8.

Not gonna let my kids play games they aren't matured enough to touch.

I hate when my little siblings go around on the internet and watch random Youtube videos.
I have seen things that I don't wish on them, so many things...

But that's a little OT.

But if I had to have a criticism of the story, Lara seems to be the only competent person from the ship after Roth died.

Yeah, it basically was a "Lara is best evaaar" sort of thing. All anyone talked about was her. It was weird.

I don't know about that, but it is definitely the best of the TR series by far. The only thing disappointing about this game is it's lack of replayability. Had they made the game where you can play it again, and then start off where you can get the remaining upgrades, etc, that would have been cool. Backtracking to previous camps and then searching was a bit of a turn-off for me, but that's me. Otherwise, this game rocks so much. The graphics (if you have the PC  version and your PC can handle it) are incredible.

Haha, true. Unfortunately I've seen quite a few of them. My head got squished by a rock, I got eaten by wolves many times before I finally understood the quick time event there, I got strangled, my throat cut, my head shot... brutal island.

I got tired of watching her neck impaled in the rapids section. I´m playing Dead Space 3 now and most of Isaac´s deads are less disturbing.

Actually, even though the replayability isn't so great, I think I'm going to find myself coming back to this game every couple of months for another playthrough. My first was on launch and I was sadly effected by a tesselation glitch so I had to turn that off. They've fixed that now so I'm thinking about doing another playthrough just for that (little difference but it goes a long way). Plus with every patch they released for the game it's made TressFX more smooth and less demanding each time.

Can't wait to get back into the role of Lara and stick some arrows in people's knees!

TR is in my top 5 fav games of the year, not as good as Infinite and Last of Us imo but still a fantastic game. Love me some archery.
