We'll have to wait. I'm being optimistic for you guys, because it does appear to be X1 exclusive for now. We'll know more later I'm sure.

MS wasted their money on that exclusitvity deal, they're the losing console by far and no amount of timed exclusives will change the perception of the community.

Ah, maybe it's time for the "renewed PC focus" memes? ^_^

I'll have to be realistic then and provide this here.

Among the obvious:

Rise of the Tomb Raider, coming Holiday 2015, is exclusively on Xbox

Is also this:

This doesn’t mean that we’re walking away from our fans who only play on PlayStation or on PC. Those are great systems, with great partners, and amazing communities. We have Lara Croft and the Temple of Osiris coming to those platforms this December, and Tomb Raider: The Definitive Edition is available on PS4.

No word about timed exclusivity, but instead the obvious placating attempt via saying "hey, don't fret, there's other Tomb Raider games too".

It just happens one's a console port of the 2013 Tomb Raider for the PS4 and the other completely uninteresting for fans of the 2013 Tomb Raider, who look more into the reinvention of the Tomb Raider instead of Underworld'esque sequels of the existing, predefined version.

Wow, this news is shocking.

I own a XBox One and a PS4 so this news doesn't really affect me all that much but considering that the Tomb Raider reboot ran at 60fps on the PS4 ( and looked gorgeous ) and at 30fps on the XBox One I'm not exactly thrilled at the prospect of of Rise of the Tomb Raider being exclusive to a console that probably can't do the game proper justice.

I hope Microsoft payed a lot of money for this deal because the Tomb Raider reboot had a lot of trouble selling enough copies to please SquareEnix and that game was available on the PS3, 360 and The PC all of which had a massive Install base well as the PS4 and XBox One, the odds of this game selling have as much units as the original is slim to none.

Without knowing the full details of this exclusive deal I must say that so far it seems like a bad business deal.

Eh. I won't be shedding any tears. While I did enjoy the reboot, it was as by the book as you can get from a developer standpoint.

I agree completely. Not only are they limiting the potential consumer base to a third of what they could have going multi platform, they also chose the third that's arguably the one with the lowest potential consumer base if we're looking at XBone sales compared to PS4. For reference, the 2013 game sold double as well on the PS4 compared to the XBone. I haven't found any data for the PC sales.

I can actually see something like making it an exclusive now to raise awareness and a base in its weakest market so that later all markets are stronger for it.

But thats a streeeeetch and not likely. Like very VERY not likely the case here.

I'd rather show my discontent by holding on to my (steam) wallet. They can go exclusive all they want and feel happy with. Just without any of my money. And like I had said, if this is a Square Enix thing again, that wallet will stay closed for a long time. Let's see if Square Enix is going to lament about not hitting sales projections again. I'd be there to spoonfeed them the irony.

I wouldn't be surprised if the Squeenix uses the exclusive's potentially lack luster sales to justify their discontinuing of the franchise.

I wonder if any of them internally are like, "Maybe we shouldn't place ridiculously high sales expectations on our titles? Yes? No?"

Dummos then. I don't know why any game they put out that sells less than a billion copies they consider a failure.

They're probably out of touch with reality, but i can't blame them for expecting more sales from the Tomb Raider reboot if you consider the franchise's 18 year history that's backed by a multitude of Image comics, parody porn and two summer blockbuster films that were headlined by Angelina Jolie.

The Problem is gamers expect a lot more out of games these days, and Gamers who were teenagers ten years ago are still playing games and their tastes have evolved as well as their expectations.
