It's the first time I've seen timed exclusivity for a game title -- That is to say, something that was deliberately payed upfront, to be kept as exclusive. It's an asinine concept, similar to Day-1 DLC, Micro-transactions etc. As a result, I doubt it's gonna be the last time that Microsoft is gonna resort to asinine decisions, since they've seemingly been doing that for a while (of that you're correct). One would think they'd spent all that money on first-party game development for the Boner, but nope. Let's go with less encouraging option."Beginning"? This kind of thing has always been around. If anything we want to see the beginning of the end of these tactics.
Heck, maybe it's only a matter of time before Sony does something just as unprecedented as this -- This, supposed, next generation is far from enlightening, hence why I mostly find myself playing on the Vita, PC or games from previous gen I never got around to.
