I picked up the 970 and decided to give TR a whirl in 4K with TressFX. Sure looks nice, but the game crashed after like 10-15 minutes

One of my favorite games from the previous years. It satisfied my need for Uncharted on a PC
I got the Definitive Edition on PS4 recently. It looks a lot better than the original, IMO. I also think her new face looks better in-game. Screenshots, not so much. But it looks great in motion.
As far as the sequel goes, if it ever ends up on PS4, I will buy it used. They won't be getting my money because of what they did with this exclusive nonsense.

how many fps did you have while it was working?^^
I forgot to turn on my FPS counter, but if I had to guess it was probably 15 at max. I couldn't even get to the next point at the very end of the game because I couldn't really hit anything.

highest settings without SSAA?
Without the DSR, it's normally 2xSSAA, I don't know if it stayed on or if it got turned off when I turned the resolution to 3840x2160.
Well, apparently we're getting some news on RotTR soon:
‘Rise of the Tomb Raider': New Details Will Arrive June 1
What would you like Microsoft to reveal next Monday? A trailer perhaps? ![]()
I liked the reboot, though there were a few things that bugged me. Kind of a shame that this game is likely an Xbox one exclusive.

It's a timed exclusive only.
I have a 360 so I don't think this game is available to me.

Microsoft: Rise of the Tomb Raider still in development for Xbox 360

Despite amazon's listing it appears to be a timed exclusive, but will be available on Both XBox 360 and XBox One

Did anyone like or understand Samantha (Nishimura?), the damsel in distress, or any of the secondary characters in this game? That was the one big flaw I think. Samnatha is first shown as the more socially capable of the two friends, handling Doctor what's-his-name and his ego with some skill and maturity, but by the time she's captured and thru the rest of the game, she's a completely helpless crybaby -- pretty much like one of the cliches that A, Sarkenson (forgot spelling, no insult intended) complains about. Seriously, if I was Lara Croft (other than the fact I'm an older guy), I would have thought about leaving the helpless p___ to her fate, and not risking life and limb. I know some of the hardcore fans really liked Sam, but I found hercharacter annoying.
The thing too is that the lead writer for this game was a woman. I hope next iteration, they spend more time on the secondary characters.
Also, big warning. If you ever find yourself with the need to gut a fish, don't ffing do it like the Samoan guy does in this game. Note that the hand and knife positioning used in that sequence is basically the sane as used by blood mages in the DA series. The fish is dead, you don't need to hold on to it. Put it on the ground or table. You also can gut a fish while holding the knife so that the cutting edge is away from you. Less risk of you blood being mixed in with fish flesh.
Sam is Lara's best friend, of course she'll risk life and limb for her. And who cares what Anita thinks?

U wot mate?
Eh, RotTR has to be a REALLY good game for me to consider buying it after Square Enix is selling it out with all that exclusive nonsense (and the fact they've been real slow with saying it's timed exclusive only, I can't help but think they just tried to gauge the reaction and would've totally gone XBone-only if the fans didn't conjur up such a shitstorm).
Not buying at launch and if at all, then only a complete, definite version.

This. you'd figure that they'd acknowledge or maintain some sense of loyalty to the Sony, and PC consumers who supported the series since it's inception.

I hope both of you share a similar stance on Street Fighter V -- which is entirely exclusive, not timed -- although I know shitting on Microsoft and the Xbox One is what all the cool kids are doing nowadays.
I got this game when it was on sale real cheap, as in under $20
I liked it for what it was but I felt the whole thing was linear and not true open world. The levels do look huge and gorgeous but it's still on rails somewhat.
QTE events really 2013 and they still need them?
I hope games today don't need them so much, and why do devs rely on them so much?
I gave the game 6.3/10
While checking the DH page I stumbled upon this:
SDCC 2015: DARK HORSE ANNOUNCES LARA CROFT AND THE FROZEN OMEN

As engaging as it is to follow the story of a young, untested Lara Croft, there are plenty of folks out there who mourn the loss of the eminently confident version of the character from before her 2013 reboot. And those folks are about to get one more way to enjoy the adventures of the classic Lara, in Lara Croft and the Frozen Omen from Dark Horse Comics.
Set in the universe of Crystal Dynamics' Lara Croft and the Temple of Osiris and Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light, Frozen Omen is a race against time, as Lara again teams up with Carter Bell and attempts to uncover and secure a series of ancient ivory artifacts before a doomsday cult can use them for nefarious, destruction-related purposes. The five issue miniseries will be drawn by Randy Green, veteran of Top Cow's Tomb Raider comics, and written by Corinna Bechko, no stranger to licensed comics herself.
The first issue is set to release October 7th.
