I now have a Compound Bow, which apparently still isn't good enough to pull open one of the doors to a Tomb location at the beach, plus a couple of other things I've found that I can't open yet. Fu-
I guess I need to upgrade it or I'm still missing gear that is given through the story.

Edit: Just beat the game and surprisingly found all the collectibles. Challenges... not so much. Was a good ending, hopefully next one will be just as strong.
Also I loved the passive cover system. Very well done.

I love the gameplay. Michael Bay and Naughty Dog would be proud. Graphics and lighting look great. Story is simple but interesting, entertaining, and well executed.
Can't wait to finish it and I'm looking forward to more Tomb Raider games.

I think it is more of an RPG than ME3 even if Tomb Raider is advertised as an action game.
Lara was done very well and acted very well so i congratulate the makers, Geralt has competition now from a female warrior. Combat is brilliant and shows other companies how it should be done. Exploration is good but shame about the QTE's.
I wish there was more interaction but the story was good.
I will probably play the new ME3 DLC next and maybe another Lara play after that.
I give the game a 9 and hope Bioware checks the game out.

I find the last upgrade piece needed for the bow, so now my Compound Bow is a Competition Compound Bow.
And I don't have enough salvage to get its last upgrade. GAAAH
Well, I have everything else fully upgraded except the shotgun. I need one more piece for that to get auto upgraded, and then there are two more upgrades in that tier to get. After that I'll have everything max'd out. So cool.
Right now I'm gonna see if I can sweep some mines.

I had no trouble. I instantly noticed the problem and knew what to do, and only after I had accomplished it did I go, "Oh, was that what they were talking about? loool

Hmm, took me about 12 hours with 79% completion. I find myself going back to search for the missing collectibles so that'll probably take some time.
I failed to mention that some kind of tutorial about the QTEs would've been nice. In the PC version the QTEs show up as symbols and not as the letter you should press on your keyboard. This is understandable since people might want to change the default mapping but it was still extremely frustrating being crushed under a rock over and over again because I didn't know what key to press. More than half the time I'd end up confusing the E and F symbols with further disastrous results.

Yes, it has pretty stunning visuals. The weather effects are also a welcome addition.

It should never have existed in the first place. Easily hands down the WORST multiplayer experience I've ever had.

Well, I can certinly confirm multiplayer sucks.... Having 100% the story mode, I decided to try the online component.

Haven't played it but I am of the opinion that not every game needs a multiplayer component.

Not in my opinion. It's a good game, I just wish it was a little less on the rails.
There are several environments that are considerably explorable well beyond most TPS games of this type, though not truly open-world or anything. I personally find it pretty cool how the game manages to balance linear narrative direction while also giving some room to move around and provide some multiple options even in the more linear sections. And the QTE's go down quite a bit after the first hour or two, I thought.
I think I'm almost at the end. I've really liked it. The action is great and the combat system is very smooth and satisfying, I think. The explorable side-stuff was a neat element that really helps set it apart. The RPG stuff and upgrades have a very nice sense of evolution to the gamplay. The new Lara is ton more likeable and relatable, too. Also I like slaughtering chickens with a shotgun.
I'd say I have three gripes. The puzzles are relatively straightforward... They're good for what they are and cool to play out, but it's not gonna stress your brain too much. The slow, linear walks/crawls can get a bit annoying, and I suspect many of them are disguised load times. And traps outside of scripted sequences, which were a cornerstone of the previous games, are almost non-existant. Also, the platforming doesn't quite have the variety of the previous trilogy, but Lara does feel a lot better to control and more manueverable in her jumps.
But yeah, overall I think it's a good game. A promising new direction for the series, in my opinion.

This game is great! Loving it sofar. Very addicting and having a blast. The QTE's aren't the best, but they aren't too bad...at the least done better then others. I logged 2-1/2 hours sofar and I'm sucked right in. Lara Croft is deep, extremely well acted and perfectly done. Loving her as a protagonist, and she's more truly beautiful in a lot of ways then just a sex symbol of sorts.
I also like combat and how varied and unique encounters are. The bow has some good pop and feels weighty, and overall the flow of combat is smooth and fluid. I also really think that platforming and jumping is superb. The sound effects and weight seem realistic when jumping around and landing, and I'm digging the fact they allow stealth, because the segments they are in are terrific. Did some initial upgrading on my stuff, too, and throughly looted a bunch of things already, although I see I have missed a lot, too. Going to go back once I have a more full repitiore.
I also enjoy...albeit disturbingly, the death cutscenes. Some can be a little startling, while not overly gruesome. It's like...."oh no, Lara!! Sorry!"
Playing on hard...I haven't noticed any real challenge at all whatsoever, but I haven't fought many things yet. A few wolves and a few tribe members.
Can't wait to dive in for some more.

And another thing is that they live in caves like homeless people despite been on a forest island with heaps of rock and timber to construct buildings and stuff with. Hundreds of shipwrecked guys trapped there for 50 years with heaps of working cranes and machinery and none of them knew how to operate the equipment or how to construct buildings? that doesn't make sense...
I liked the gameplay though, and the tombs had lots of nice stuff to look at.

Just completed it and there is so much I don't understand about the setting... the original handful of shipwrecked survivors have been on the island for around 50 years or so, but there are like hundreds of them and I didn't see any females among them. How did they get to be so large in number on some spooky island that isn't even charted on maps? Did that island godess use her magic to direct lots of nearby ships to the island to be indoctrinated into the cult?

If you look into the backround logs and listen to the banter of the enemies, these questions are answered. The cultists are pretty well established on the island and they do have skills from their previous lives. They definitely know how machinery works, in particular, which makes sense considering many of them were ship workers.
