I am mage, hear me roar!

Ahhh, I loved Finn. Ariane as well. Based on the fact that they were only dlc characters, and thus had very little screen time, the writers could definitely have a bit of fun and flesh out their characters a bit more. So either as cameos or companions, I'd love to see them return.

I'd prefer these two to have a cameo over some of the actual full-game companions.

If they can be brought back consistent with their established personalities and in a way that makes sense, then that would be lovely. Otherwise, let them remain as a fond memory of companions past.

This. I really liked the two! Image IPB

Those two are around level 30. Would make the game too easy if I had those with me.

Didn't the Talking-Tevinter-Statue-of-Ambiguous-Prophecy kind of sorta imply that Finn would be dying soon?

She said "We will not meet again." Finn took that to mean he could die, but Finn has a touch of hypochondria about him, so naturally he would assume the absolute worst possibility.

There's a lot of non-fatal ways to interpret that prediction. Like, maybe Finn would not be returning to the tower, or she was being moved to another tower when he was away.

Yeah but really how often has a talking statue told you you were not going to meet again and then no one dies? It totally goes against years of RPG [and talking statue] tradition and ohemgee the devs were trolling me.

Yes, I support the return of Finn and Ariane. An awesome duo indeed. Though they have likely gone their separate ways by now.

I think Finn would make an excellent companion, especially when he has to deal with being thrust out into the world in the midst of a templar/mage war. He'll have a panic attack - he was freaking out about being out in the Witch Hunt DLC. And he'd balance the pro-anti Circle mages nicely. So far, the anti Circle mages have been Anders, Morrigan, Merrill and normal/Warden!Bethany. Pro Circle has been Wynne and Circle!Bethany. Adding Finn to the latter would be nice, because it isn't a *thing* with him, it's just where he grew up, so he's opinion on the whole thing would be interesting.

As for Ariane, I don't mind, but she seemed friendly, a little mischevious and had an interesting perspective on the Dalish without getting angsty about it. If we do have a Dalish in the party again, I would definitely rather they not be mages.

I love these two, I'd be very happy to see them return, even in a cameo role.

Finn could probably come back no worse for wear with his redesign, idk though anything could happen. Depending on his relevance to the story he could come back looking more attractive (not a complete redesign, but an accident sort of deal to make him less generic like with Merrill.

Ariane on the other hand would likely get a new voice actress (to match the Welsh sounding Dalish), look entirely different due to the elven redesign (bigger eyes, shorter frame) and unless she were a cameo there would no doubt be more added to the character to flesh her out a bit. Imo something I could get over, though I'd personally hate it if Velanna for instance sounded anything other than what her Grey Delisle form sounded like, so I can imagine how jarring that would be for bigger more invested Ariane fans.

I loved Finn, he just really stood out among all the companions I'd had up until then. All before then may have complained about suicidal odds but this guy was genuinly scared. All the time. Of EVERYTHING. xD It made for a nice change.

And it WOULD be interesting to see how he reacted to the conflict between the mages and templars, and he and Ariane are the only two who know what happened to the Warden if he followed Morrigan through the Eluvian - Leliana will need to bump into them at some point if she's looking for him/her.

1 year old maybe. This one was just 1 month old and such bumps keep happening from time to time. Also in the interest of reducing forum spam by creating 20 threads for the same topic, I find this to be the better option.

@Crash and Dear: Fair enough. I, on the other hand loved Finn!

Well, my snarky point was that if a two page long thread is one month dead, that means that no one gives a damn about the topic and thus no more threads should be created and old ones not bumped ;)

They have a better chance of showing up than others but man they were both annoying.

Meh. Finn was moderately amusing but Arianne was nothing special... I don't care if either of these two ever show up again as companions or even in cameos.

I liked Arianne, mainly because she gave my canon Dalish Warden her first opportunity to actually act Dalish in a long time.

Finn...meh.

They had a good dynamic. I could take or leave them individually, but as a duo, they were terrific.

I liked 'em both a lot. Finn is my second choice for returning companion after Leliana, and the only mage I hope we get back as a companion this time. :-) Ariane I'd also like to see, companion or cameo, but I think more cameo. I'm hoping when we see the Dalish, Ariane is there (along with surviving Dalish Wardens).

Hopefully they show up. :)

edit: lol I wonder what would happen if our Inquisitor had the oppurtunity to question that statue about the whereabouts of the Warden and Hawke? Image IPB

Srsly? It was a 2 hour DLC and the only personality that got fleshed out at all was that Finn was OCD and Arianne was hostile during first impressions and wanted her book back. Their banter was cute but we learn virtually nothing about them.

AAaaand since I started Witch Hunt at Lvl 35 they were pre-built and unchangable. I imported better gear for both of them, which helped. Yet in the end the only reason Arianne ever stayed alive was because Finn was there with his healing and locking enemies down so they wouldn't kill her. Really, who gives a Lvl 35 warrior 20 constitution?

Alright, gameplay wasn't that relevant. So my strong point here is my first: I liked them OK, but they were not around long enough to really get to know them enough to even warrant caring if I see them again or not.

Edit: And they were not presented in a manner like Charade in which it was blatantly hinted at in teaser fashion that they would be in upcoming installments of the series.

I wouldn't mind either of them returning if only to find out if something happened to them.
