God, I loved Finn so much. He might have been a little boring for a full-length game without additional personality traits...
BUT
The idea of a mage who was VERY comfortable in the Circle in the midst of this huge mage/templar conflict as a companion is a very interesting idea to me. Could be interesting. And he WAS a healer.
*sigh* This is what comes from making all the good healing spells a specialization; we're forced (or if not forced, then heavily pushed) towards every game having a healer companion. I so wish they would incorporate spirit healer abilities into the normal creation tree...but that's another thread.
don't we get that type of character allready? - Vivienne was a shoe in for first enchanter of one of the Orlesian-Cricles and she is described as liking the circle (not in a pro-chantry way, but in a pro-mage way - so i guess while she liked the circles, she would want them free from the chantry, too (at least that is what i hope, as we already had a pro-chantry circle companion that did like the chantry as well: Wynne! - she even worked for and with the divine!)
as for the second thing "adding the healing into the creation-tree":
yes, please (make the real "spirit"-tree (for mages who regularly interact with spirits (and maybe even demons) something different (maybe buffs, debuffs, summoning and extra damage?) something else, not necessarily healing)
