A game based on the movie "Aliens" and it has been confirmed canon, taking place after Alien 3 (which I like to pretend doesn't exist). Gearbox also promised to "answer" all unanswered questions.

It comes out on Steam on 12th February. Not a very long wait indeed. If you pre-order it you will get a rifle that fires explosive darts which stick to enemies and terrain.

There will be no HUD and as far as I know the multiplayer will mainly consist of deathmatches, capture points and last stand maps. Campaign will probably be around 5-6 hours or so. There will also be an option to customize your marine and his/her weaponry for multiplayer matches. Gearbox said that this game will be very hard, which isn't a surprise, really.

So, what do you guys think aboiut this? Will you buy it or just don't care at all. Comment below so I could know!

I'm waiting for this for a long time. AvP2 was medicore and gave me a sour taste but im feeling Aliens will gave us the tension we hunger for. And i trust Gearbox can deliver their promises.

I really hope they put some Predator easter egg/cameo in game.Like some hanging bodies or stealthy figures roaming around us but never interfering.

Yeah i might pick this up too. The game has been in development for quite awhile, so the graphics look a little rough around the edges, but so long as gameplay, atmosphere, and story are up to scratch, it's definetly one worth watching. Problem is that the terrible film Prometheus almost ruined this franchise for me, especially since it's canon in the Alien universe, which sucks.

No. AVP is a non-canon spinoff. Well in fact it's more a universe of its own. The ALIEN and Predator universes are separate, completely unconnected. This game is set in the ALIEN universe, which is why i think it's a bad idea to even include Predator easter egg, as people may confused as to what the canon is. Predators don't exist in the ALIEN franchise, so no.

And that's why this game is somewhat refreshing since all Alien related games had a "vs Predator" attached. I heard Gearbox mentioned they're going to bring Bishop back since Lance Henriksen is in the cast list.. Which is good.

What I fear that this game might have a lot of moments where it just throws enemies at players horder after horde with minimum exploration allowed. Defend this objective, protect this guy while he opens the door, etc. Sure, it's a shooter, but I really hope there will be a adequate story and memorable characers. Suppose campaign is gonna be short anyway.

Already pre-ordered. I'm slightly apprehensive with the fact there's barely any of the game actually been shown though, time will tell I suppose. Hopefully if you run out of ammo you can use harsh language.

Lol would be kinda neat if the death screen would say "Game over, man! Game over!"

Considering Hadley´s Hope seems to be mostly standing after being ground zero of a nuclear explosion, I have my doubts. Frankly, I lost my interest when they said it was set a few days after Alien 3. Can´t we just forget that movie happened? Even Fincher doesn´t want to remember it. Gameplay I´ve seen does seem like any other shooter. Doesn´t look like the survival horror the AvP marine campaigns had.

@ Para-medic: If it doesn't I'll be writing an angry letter lol.

Am I alone in finding Ripley the worst part of Aliens and very glad she isn't anywhere near the game?

Yeah, I'm not a big fan of her either. I heard rumours of Hicks making a cameo, though.

If you look at that Hicks trailer again they seem to have a captured marine with a bag over his head, wouldn't bet against it being one of the original crew.

Was trying to work out if its Michael Biehn in the trailer but pretty sure its not, does sound fairly close though. The guy who played Gorman is in it as another marine, he's been in most AvP games it seems.

There´s no one left of the original crew. They were all infected. If Ripley barely reached Newt in time, then even Hudon, the last captured, would have been infected. And the nest was literally ground zero.

About Hicks (and the other 2 and a half survivors), whoever designed the Sulaco´s emergency systems probably would have thought the Starbrat was a good idea.

You said yourself though Hadley's Hope was basically nuked and seems to be still standing with the Aliens still around. Is a surviving marine that much of a stretch from that?

I just have a bad feeling about it.

I'ld highly doubt any marines unless they pull some major BS...though how much of the colony is left after the reactor blew...well who knows.

It just feels very silly that with all they had to do to get away on time, all they´d have needed to do was crouch behind a wall.

Yeah, the xenos had other plans, but still...

I'll save my judgement for it, when it comes out and there's a demo or decent gameplay videos. Only suckers buy games based on a trailer.

I don't consider Alien 3 canon, so anything could have happened in my mind.

I'm not sure if this will be true but I heard that A:CM might have connections with the Prometheus movie can some one provide with a link.

Have been looking forward to it since the rumours of the game first started. It looks great from the videos I have seen and I love the fact it will answer the questions people had - even though the Alien 3 issues never bothered me and lead to many great arguements on the IMDB board.

The only question I have is what version to get, the basic, collectors edition or the super special edition with the powerloader statue? - I have to admit to be tempted as would love a Powerloader statue to replace my old model kit version with ugly Ripley version.

I'm excited. The inclusion of co-op pretty much pushes it to "must-buy" simply so I can have the following conversation.

"Man this is a big freaking signal!"
"That can't be that's inside the room!"
"It's reading right man!"
"Well you're not reading it right!"

(yes I know that's not the full quotation. As my office mates know as I recited it for them from memory the other day...)
