That damn Harrier.  My first UR weapon, and my first to III (besides the Valkyrie), and I still can't use it the way I hear it described.  I think I just am not good at ARs. =/

No its because most of our AR's suck compared to the other weapons we have. The Harrier is literally the only AR anyone bothers talking about- but heh- call me super stupid I'll take my Avenger X over it :whistle:

I've been trying to complete map mastery and I'm tired of ****ty pugs so I changed the enemy to geth and used the kroguard just in case I would have to do solo rounds (I have lone wolf already).

I get pissed when my grenade class can't find grenades because the TGI needed his noob packs to stay alive.

Also, balance.

Is it fair that I do less damage with overload on my Human Engineer + Power Amplifier III specced for power damage than a TGI with no equipment and specced for weapon damage ? Hell no.

But... you have Incinerate and Combat Drone Image IPB

Nothing wrong with it. You won't see me playing a Kroguard or assault rifle TGI ever though. I think there should be a few classes that any player can do well with, and we have a good selection of those (Kroguard, TGI, Huntress, Paladin...).

None. That is the problem. That is why I like them. I feel better when others are playing these characters because I know that my work load will be reduced.

You havent seen a TGI with Harrier 8 died almost every wave and bleed out. Or a Kroguard.

Some people like a challenge, like dance with brutes or banshees. Then some GI joins, melting everything in 2 seconds. Bye fun, it's like beating up a 5y/o (lol).
Don't respond with something like, play solo if you want a challenge.

Your dancing.... it takes too long. Trying to get paid here....

Valid point, but if you're just farming the game gets tedious, if not, good for you guys, I guess.

+1

Also, it's interesting how many people are inclined to say that we hate clutch classes because we've been outscored by them.

Last time I was outscored by some clown using clutch was....

Oh yeah, it didn't happen.

Embarassingly enough I've even beaten TGIs with a melee specced demolisher.

n00b / crutch classes ****** me off not because they've ever come close to outscoring me, but because they owe their entire score to whatever crutch they happen to be using; NOT to any skill they have. And frequently they do things which annoy you or restrict MY ability to play. Standing behind me spamming biotic slash, or flamer so my screen is shaking, or I can't see the enemies is utterly moronic.

Call me an elitist, whatever you like. I'll be over here doubling your score on my vorcha engineer.

There is no problem with them
Some people are only comfortable when they feel better than everyone else
So calling something a "crutch" is a way for them to rationalize their inflated sense of worth
With the fact that someone just outscored them

I have a maxed manifest... I don't need money... I just would rather kill the brute than watch you dodge/melee with it for another 15 seconds. It's the lack of efficiency that drives my OCD crazy.... but, that's what Gold is for... less efficient builds. I only use the OP crutch class on Platinum... for the most part. Sometimes I'll break out the GI with an Avenger on Gold....

Also, too many people playing crutch characters leads to legit things being nerfed.

TGI --> Havoc
GI --> Geth Engineer
Tactical Cloak --> Krysae
Tactical Cloak/Devastator Mode --> Piranha
Farming --> Smash, Sabotage

I don't judge anybody if they use a "crutch class" that may or may not be balanced compared to the other kits. However, i do have a problem with those taking personal offense when their "crutch class" is "attacked". And no, i'm not talking about specific classes or posters.

When has anyone ever said that they're mad because they got outscored by a low-skill player using a Harrier TGI? Find one example of one of the so-called elites saying this.

Neither of the above would have been touched if firebase white farming using salarian engineer decoy as clutch hadn't been so widespread.

I think a crutch is in the eye of the beholder. For example, most people wouldn’t consider the Fury a crutch, but if you watched videos of N7-Link (I think that’s his name) playing her, you’d think she just walks around and blows up the map with no effort. The fact of the matter is, skilled players can take certain classes and dominate with them like nothing else, but they’re the exception; I’ve played with loads of TGIs, Kroguards and GIs, and very rarely did I feel that they were dominating the game.

Are some classes more efficient at killing than others? Sure. But every player has their own style, and not all the “crutch” characters fit. For example, I like to think that I play a mean Drell Assassin (specced for Recon spam, using a Talon and a Hurricane), but I don’t enjoy the Kroguard or the GI (I don’t mind the GI, but I enjoy the engineer and trooper more). Do I think the Drell can kill as quickly as the GI? No, but for the role I play, he’s much more efficient, and that’s what it really comes down to. Play what you want, and if people on the forums want to whine about how OP a character is, it’s probably because they’re scoreboard-obsessed, which isn’t everyone’s main concern.

I saw him using Stimpak but he keeps dying every wave.

Can't speak for other people, but I find boring to play with the same group of characters all the f*cking time.

Oh come on the Krysae as an example is kind of crazy. That thing was an abomination from day one. I'd hardly classify it as legit.

I don't get why Combat Drone got nerfed. Also Krysae deserved a nerf but it was too extreme.

I find it annoying when people use really strong stuff in silver, but that's mostly because I only ever really go there to do challenges for really weak things and it has a huge potential to make me get very few points for it.

In gold, I really don't care. Take whatever.

Best part is the only ones that can use these "crutch" characters to the point forum goes whine that they're "OP" are people that have used these "crutch" characters long enough to fully understand them.

Maybe they were just letting some kids play on their accounts. I occasionally let my cousins and friends play on my PC so I assume that other people do the same.

I look at it like this: This is a war, right? The object is to extract, and help your teammates as much as possible, correct? So then why wouldn’t you use a powerful character, if you wanted to? I’m pretty sure the Avengers don’t feel guilty using the Hulk to “SMASH!” because he’s too OP.

Then again, they don’t have scoreboards or challenges to worry about. Or internet forums. =0p
