If you mean PhysX, are you running XP then? Wasn't aware they still made dedicated PhysX cards. Or do you mean an older generation regular graphics card dedicated to PhysX?

It's not even connected to anything.

kudos for the cable management there

Thanks :D

I could improve the right side a bit; I also planned on decoupling and sleeving the individual wires on my power extension but ultimately i became lazy and didn't feel like paying the rediculous prices for that many single strands.

I would connect it, but I'm afraid my graphics card will get offended and refuse to do anything.
The thought of it needing help from a physics card is beyond insulting.

CoolerMaster HAF X case.  Slightly modified to carry red-lit fans with shrouds. Two separate radiators.  Four hard drives.

Really started because I did not like how loud my video card was playing Witcher 2 a couple of years ago.  One thing led to another...

 I used to have a desktop, but then after two mobo's crashed, I made the case into pinata.
Now I just have a simple HP Pavilion dv6 notebook with an Intel 2 Duo cpu (P7450 @2.13GHz 2.13GHz)4GB RAMWin7 64-bit
I've been thinking about building an Ivy League gaming system, but saving up for a graphics card.
My workstation at work would likely be fun for gaming, if I had any time to do that sort of relaxation and IT allowed it (along with management, of course).

If only I had a camera, I would share.

Buuuuut my case is a Thermaltake MSI-Commander Epic Edition. I have front and bottom red LED 120mm intake fans, side and back red LED 120mm exhaust fans (side one being over my overclocked Radeon HD 7870s in Crossfire), two slim 120mm top fans mounted above my Hyper 212 EVO (one intake onto the front of it, one exhaust above / behind it), three 40mm fans mounted in a 5.25" bay (feeding air to the Hyper 212 from the front), and two CM Excalibur 120mm fans on the Hyper 212 EVO. All running very silent, on lowest settings, thanks to a fan speed controller.

The fans keep my i5-3570k running at around 72C with a Prime95 torture test, overclocked at 4.5GHz. That's while remaining silent.

Have a dvd drive, two Velociraptor 300GB 10,000 RPM hard drives in RAID0, and a SanDisk ReadyCache SSD, so a total of 6 cables between those 4.

There is a wireless adapter sticking out of the back of the case, as well as a wired connection.

Also have a 2m red LED strip running around the edges, inside the case, which requires a 4-pin power connector. I know, it's a Christmas tree. I regret nothing.

All of this while remaining very clean in the case, thanks to wire ties and wire tie mounts, as well as tucking cables into hidden areas of the case.

But most importantly, I have this sticker on the top of the case, in red.

As for my actual desk, I have a black glass L-shaped corner desk with a Razer Anansi / Razer Naga, 21.5" 1080p monitor (small for 1080p, but the pixel density is great), Genius SW-G2.1 1250 speakers (subwoofer under desk), and a red/black gooseneck mic.

Oh, and a mesh pencil cup. Yeeeeah.

And my desktop layout on Windows 8:

Hidden utility bar that pops up when highlighted...
<snip>
Fancy zoom effect...
<snip>

The old style Start menu when the white window is clicked...

And my Windows 8 metro interface when the blue window is clicked, or the windows key is pressed...

Really pretty! How are you like Windows 8? My brothers told me I should skip it because it was more oriented toward touch vs traditional interface.

It's actually just as good, if not better than 7 if you tweak it to your liking. As you can see, I have a traditional start menu as well as the 8 menu. That's from a program called Start8 that costs only $4.99. Honestly, it just takes some getting used to, but it adds tons of new features and feels very fluidic in comparison to older versions.

I'd say try it yourself and see how you like it. Work through your first impressions, because they will be limited. Windows 8 really needs to be set up differently for each person using it, which is actually kind of cool to me.

I have WIndows 8 on my other dv6, but I haven't tried adding any games to it on perhaps unwarranted fears that Win8 wouldn't run them or use the graphics card well for them. How does your gaming fare and what games do you run on it?

I work as a Network Analyst for Cell Tower Backhaul.  A  normal week at the moment is to monitor and ticket CMTS health, DHCP IP Scope Exhastion alarms, Regional Transport Network alarms, VOD health, and then my primary duties of monitoring network health for Optical Transports devices across multiple states for various carrier customers.  The basis of the work is supplying the bandwidth between cell towers and the customer's MSC through fiber optic and ensuring redundancy and bandwidth QoS is delivered.  This allows for folks to stream, play games, or whatever the carriers allow to be done or what is needed for their customers.

It seems about 95% of what works on 7 works on 8.

I run all you see here with full 60 average FPS at almost all times on max settings.

I am running with a crossfire 7870 that I overclocked myself, and an i5-3570k @ 4.5GHz, and performance is all-around screaming.

Nope, we're an ISP (TWC).  We own for example in an Alcatel-Lucent environment, we own the 7210 or 7705 and that is located at a cell tower owned by say Verizon or a major wireless carrier provider.  The carrier owns the site, tower, HVAC, power utilities, etc.  We ensure that our handoff equipment is working and that the outgoing network connection from that router goes out on both paths to either one or two different hubsites that we own to ensure redundancy, we also own and ensure the fiber leaving the hub(s) that connect to the Carrier's main center that connects to their own transport network.
