Geth Trooper: Hunter Mode or Flamer?

Before, I didn't have flamer and mostly just roamed around with the geth weapons doing damage that way and being a tank with heavy shields and fortification to survive, and flicking on Hunter Mode in emergencies to do more damage. I don't have it on all the time so I don't lose my shields.
This time though, considering if I should drop hunter mode in favor of the flamer.

Most powerful flamer:

Tank/Weapons platform:

Coward:

If you'd like you can switch speed and vision for a little more damage in HM, I prefer better wallhacks and mobility, personally.

With that setup its one of my favorite characters for more relaxed play as I dont have to work very hard and worry very little over being instantly grounded by some ninja ravager or praetorian lawlser spam.

Anyways, I kind of like the Geth Trooper better when he's a Vorcha Soldier instead.

You know you can have both right?
yup, if you dun wanna go full weapon platform, its nice to get both.
HM's wallhack and passive dmg boosts can outweigh some extra tankiness and add more to flamer specs- depends how ya play. The only major reason not to take it w/ a flamer build is cause can't seem to not die constantly despite being able to see everything around you and being fast. A spec like 6/6/5/5/4 (5 in fort till power synergy, HM for power boosts) maxes power dmg and still gives you decent shields and DR from fort, which equips like cyclonics can boost to make up for the HM penalty (w/ even just cyclonic II he'll have 1500 shields after HM and 30% DR from fort- more than most kits). Could also go 5 in HM and 5 in fitness for the extra shield recharge or 6 in fort for the 10% extra DR or faster recharge.
HM-less flamer build is sub-optimal and lowers ur awareness, but is safer if ur not used to the tactics of playing squishier, mobile kits. Personally, I'd never leave home w/o HM; even w/ a 500 shield penalty, dat wallhack and speed are so good, but not everyone can roll that way and still play comfortably. (also, imo, if you go HM-less w/ flamer, you mine as well play a VSe and self-detonate flamer w/ clusters and generally wreck spawns more than the GSo could ever dream)
There are many good ways to build the GSo, though, so just stick to the one you like the most in practice. 'Doing it wrong' is more in how you play than how you spec w/ this kit.

it's been working out pretty well so far, it's my most favorite Soldier kit. i just use Flamer to set mooks up for fire explosions. otherwise, i don't use it.

Teamed up with Stonghold package, being able to take a pair of banshee warps to the face without dropping shields feels tough as nails.

it only reduces base shields anyway.
theres a few weapons that make skipping flamer ok if youre building him for that purpose,( the typhoon)
otehrwise its insane, because its stronger than a vorcha's.

Although I kinda want to swap to a Flamerless build and just rock the Argus with it.

I like the "coward" build, but specced for power damage in the passive.

Same here. With hunter mode, the most tangible benefit is that it is made easier to shoot mooks through walls, and a higher DPS, at the cost of not being able to see what I'm doing and a ~30% hit on the shields. The decreased DPS doesn't seem to be a very big problem, since I always seem to do end up on top in score with this build.

This is the build I am using, specced HM for ROF/Accuracy and use geth pulse rifle.
that way you don't really need the cool down bonus for HM and flamer can be canceled to reduce cool down time.
just use flamer and cancel when whatever you were shooting at is dead. Once shield/barrier is down infantry level enemy should die before full duration of flamer runs out.
Geth pulse rifle keeps your cooldown reasonable and gains dmg/rof/accuracy bonus from HM and since it is a geth weapon the dmg bonus is greater not to mention that it is very easy to get consistent headshots even at long range as well.
this build will work well with most weapon with good ROF/accuracy and decent base dmg, but to make this guy good at all ranges assault rifles will probably work better.
Just my suggestion, hope it helps you:)

If you don't spec into flamer how will you destroy an unshielded atlas in one cast? Answer: you won't.
Now, is that With or without power amps?

I was focusing on mostly being a tank with weapons, but I promoted so now I'm rebuilding, and thinking if I should switch.

6/6/6/5/3 is OP on Plat.
I don't understand your problem.
